Revival Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 Thats the thing mate on that site its only down for pennys ? i dont get it
accord83 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Get adverts of similiar cars for sale in Classic Ford, Retro Ford, Practical Classics Mags, Affordable Classics ads Etc. over last few months and send them copies, work out the average price and tell them that's your value.
antz Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 have they looked at classic car mags. other classified adverts. ebay, 2008!?!?!?! those prices have gotta be well out of date! £3500 for a A1 mk2 escort rs2k? if they are that price then ill go down to my garage and buy one now
Admin Vista Posted September 8, 2008 Admin Report Posted September 8, 2008 The sporting escort owners club has a price guide that's usually in the right ball park, what sort of nick was your car in? http://www.seoc.co.uk/priceguide.htm edit: They have a mk1 twin cam down as being worth £6500 Some people just can't accept (or haven't woken up to) the rise in value of our cars in the last 4 or 5 years.
mossy Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 go to some sites and print off other adverts similar to what yours is ... then send them in.
caprinerd Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 are they local to you, if so go into the office with all the car mags you can with mk1`s in them and show all of them, if your not then email or fax the stuff through and dont except anything less than what you insured it for, and just tell them it was insured for x you want x if they didnt think it was worth x and thought it was worth y then they should have insured it as y and not x so its their fault and the value of the car still stands at more than they are offering, i think i read somewhere about this as a consumer right
Rallyfezzigirl Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I had similar problems with my last insurance company over damage that had been caused by a dodery old fart...it wasnt a classic car but it was worth 3 times as much as they were offering, they were gona write it off until I produced a dozen for sale adverts of similar cars to mine, they had to back down and repair the car! hard proof is the best way forward.
lotusless Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 go down their office + hold them at gunpoint till they give you the full value for your scort!!! ohh did i just say that out loud? dont really do that

FredTransit Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 WTF??? A Mk2 granny (admittedly in poor cond) for £300 Do behave! They are worth that scrap. Is this site made by insurer's?
razersedge Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 keep arguing with them i refused 11 offers when mine got stolen and got what it was insured for which was £6000 but it took 6 months
Rick Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 its standard proceedure for the insurance to diddle you mate. print off loads of adverts and ebay auctions as proof and build up a file to protest to the ombudsman should they not meet your dem, ands was your value agreed? i was offered £80 for my corsa when it was nicked a complete joke that i had to battle hard to get put right
caprinerd Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 i was offered £80 for my corsa when it was nicked i aint going to say anything , to easy lol just laying rick just hold out till you get what they covered the for in the first place plenty of adds, mags, anything you can get your hands on i know its wrong to do this but its worked before , get some mates to advertise simular cars and use those adds, the cars arent real but the insurance company dont know that, and if people do phone your mates up about the car that dont exist, they just say its sold, simple. you wont be the first to do it and believe me your gonna be far from the last
Rick Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 cheek to be fair though its not gonna take much proving, theres no need to fake it
shaun1.6ghia Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I had similar problems with my last insurance company over damage that had been caused by a dodery old fart...it wasnt a classic car but it was worth 3 times as much as they were offering, they were gona write it off until I produced a dozen for sale adverts of similar cars to mine, they had to back down and repair the car! hard proof is the best way forward. this happened to a friend... he did the same ... take adverts of similar cars....
