zetecmk2 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 kooltina has her mot tomorrow at 4pm....tonight i jetwashed the engine bay, putting tissue in my 45's to keep the water out. totally forgot about it and started her up i wouldn't of thought tissue could do valves but guess what...only fires on 1 cylinder and backfires through the exhaust!!! where do i go for my prize??
sab6024 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 ahh gutted but I'm sure you're not the first and you won't be the last to put stuff in your carbs
zetecmk2 Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 oh good...i feel better already but i'm still a twunt!! god, how i would take the piss if somebody else did this!
Copey Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 oops!! hope its not too hard to sort out
cyrix Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Did that with a bit of cloth in a VW beetle engine, it did actually come back out the exhaust on fire, however they measure the clearances on them engines in inches
bortaf Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 probably carbon from it burning has stuck a valve open try cleaning the plugs first
Gonzo Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Aye. I'd say it's probably just bunged things up rather than bent stuff. Try whipping the plugs out and turning it over, see if anything gets spat out and try again.
countrybumpkin Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 oops bet you feel silly, just whip the rockerbox off you'll see if any of the valves arnt moving
Trevmk3 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 unlucky Glen, you wont of been the first oh yeah and
zetecmk2 Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 no bent valves....just burnt tissue stopping 3 closing, whipped the plugs out and used a hooktool to remove what was left!! still wouldn't start so placed front wheels on the spec and bumped it she started but still had to cancel the mot as this engine breathes like a bastard!!! filled catchtank up in 5 mins!!! surely this can only be rings to pressurise crankcase that much? anybody had a heavy breathing crossflow? what was it? i've put a drain back to the sump, this may mean i keep my oil (find out tomorrow) but it shouldn't blow that much oil out!! rocker cover breather not as bad. opinions please
