Its that time of year again, buying those old 13" tyres cause they are nackered....

but, everytime i go, the prices are going up up up up and up even more, after looking around the tyre places price list, i found out that 14/15" tyres.. are cheaper (yes you heard it) cheaper than 13" tyres....

and you can get a lot better makes etc and are usually in stock.

so, instead of replacing the old tyres for 185's again.... i wanna go up in life. so just a few questions.

i want some 14/15" wheels for a mk3 capri... between 6j and 8j, and i want to be able to fit them WITHOUT any spacers!

what offset should i be looking for???

and anyone got any reccomendations for wheels that would suit and fit without spacers etc???

and anyone got ne for sale ;);) haha

p.s. would the group 4fittment wheels fit? 8j offset +00?

7" require ET12

8" require ET0

9" require ET-24

Dont bother with Group 4 fitment otherwise you will have to change your studs or get conversion nuts

wow, very specific. thankyou

can you get 9" under standard arches?

(this is a mk3 capri we're talkin bout here?)

There are not many cars with the same pcd as a ford, and those that are (pug, citroen, audi) are all front wheel drive so the offsets are totally different. Even cossie wheels are the wrong offset

Best bet is to buy new

These are all Group 4 fitment but you can get them without

I have just put 9x15 on mine and price was £140 each inc VAT

cool, thanx for the help.

quickie, how do i work out if they will fit?

found some 6j ET 15's

the standard wheels laser alloys are iirc 6j et 5... and sit in the arches at least 20mm...

is the et 15 sitting in more or sitting out more? if so i'd probably need 10mm spacers by the looks of things

www.camskill.co.uk wide selection of 13inch tyres at competitive prices !

stick with 13s you know it makes sense :P escort boys dont havre the problem because thye all seem to go for 175/50s and theyre really popular with the mini boys aswell but look silly on a capri .... 185/60 semmed a good size to me on my capri but it was quite low

to ge tthem to sit in the same place you would indeed need a 10mm spacer

185's .... are thin....

tbf they are like bike tyres to 215's which used to be on on the 16" wheels, but i had to run spacers, which i dont agree with :(.

also 175/50r13 .... 76quid per tyre... for a bike tyre???? lmao.

naah =).

1. Measure the overall width of wheel (OW)

2. Measure the 'T' dimension, which is the measurement from the back of the bolt up face to the outside of the inner rim

3. Divide the overall width by two which gives the centre line

4. Subtract the centre line figute from the 'T' dimension

ET=T-OW

70's and early 80's Alfas were RWD with a 4 x 108 PCD and look in the right place and you might find something cheap.

How about these 15" ones (I'm not sure how the offset can be 5" though)

Or how about a set of these 6J 14" Cromodoras?

I know its front wheel drive, but it has wide arches for a FWD and the offset looks fairly Capri-ish.

i personally think these would look the tits on a capri...

Escort Cossie

good call, them wheels look the nuts on a capper!

i have got those on my favourites already lol!

wouldnt look out of place to be fair i'd put em on scruffy... "cause i dont give a damn" lol!

and for the cossie wheels arent they stupid wide? so any difference in offset could call for some precise spacing?

also they are vv expensive =(

nah i think they have 205-225 width tyres which i would say is 7-8j

just by looking at the wheels the offset looks like it was made for a RWD, maybe why ive seen these on a lot of MK1 Sierra Cossies

they r expensive though il give you that

Escort cossie rims are FWD offset. Its all to do with the steering geometry

I have 9x15 revolutions with 225 tyres on the back of my Capri with standard arches, they're got quite a deep dish and I needed a mk1 3l axle for them to fit. There's plenty of room though so with the right offset 9" would fit on a standard axle.

Escort cossie wheels are 8x16, I've seen a couple of capri's with them and I'm 99.9% sure they more than fill out the standard arches without spacers, they do have quite a dish on them.

Any pics???

im wanting revos :( but money is a bit scarse to pay 110new per wheel without tyres!

id be looking at half that per wheel.

so i can JUST afford tyres for them lol=)

am i right in saying 5j sounds VERY small for 195 tyres???

think he's typed it in wrong??

also if this is 6/7j which for 195 tyres sounds more reasonable with an ET of 15, think these would fit?

5mm spacers to get em out a little maybe?
