i arranged to meet my wife and youngest son at school today to pick our daughter up as i was walking towards the school i saw my wife walking towards me with my son, she was very upset and was pointing to a car and driver shouting " lets see if you appoligise to his dad "

then she told me still pointing he nearly ran me and marc over

the driver had drove the wrong way down a one way street then with out looking as my wife and son were on the pavement walking reversed up on to the pavement (the only good point to the driver so far is where he was reversing was a driveway) and very nearly hit lindsey (marc was luckilly on the other side of her ) she shouted him to stop and banged on his car as she jumped out of the way he stopped opened his door and asked what the problem was as he was driving at a snails pace due to the poor weather and his driving was sensible

as i was quickly informed of this it wound me up immidiantly and i ran towards him and shouted "say sorry or ill hit you "

he quickly said sorry and moved back giving distance between us but then started saying "i was driving sensiblly and at a snail pace "

to which i pointed out by shouting (as by this time his car was parked facing the right way it was half on the kerb and over the yellow zigzag keep clear lines )

"your not a sensible driver you dont park like that now move it and park properlly"

he went back to his car got in it to move it as he was getting in it he said " violance doesnt solve anything"

i was really wound up so i replied "it does for me"

he then drove of

he must have parked somwhere else as a few mins later he returned saying i dont want to leave it like this hit me if you want to then he tried convincing (wel i think himselfbecause he wasnt convincing anyone else) that he was driving sensible and he was annoyed that lindsey had banged on his car to stop

whats he on

he addmitted he drove the wrong way down the one way street he addmitted he was parked illeagally and he addmitted he didnt see lindsey and marc so wheres the sensible bit in that

id calmed down a bit and realised the consequences if i did hit him i said look your trying to convince yourself keep out of my way

then he was on the phone to some one

now as im really trying to keep out of trouble ive stopped drinking too (iwas a alcoholic) im getting help with the alcoholism and im waiting to see a phycologist to talk about past problems (but thats all anther story) and to get anger management help

i think i managed to controll myself even though i did fly at him at first but now im a bit worried he may have been on the phone to the police saying i threatened him

whats your opinions and where do you think i stand i know all i can do is wait and there was wittnesses to him driving and parking as he did and i didnt actually physically touch him and my wife was in tears and really shooken up and really pissed of at the fact he wasnt even going to appoagise

what a idiot some people have no sence, you didnt actualy do anything to him so i wouldnt worry, so what if he called the police he was more in the wrong than you, you where only doing what any careing father would have done

Id says you did the right thing mate. He was obviously not driving, manoeuvring or parking his car in the correct manner, if someone is walking on the pavement then they have the right of way and not a car driving on to it even if they are accessing a driveway (same rules apply at zebra crossings, pedestrians have the right away) If he did call the cops then im sure they just told him to stop wasting there time! Like you say you didn’t lay a finger on him so there is no crime there on your part.

If anything dose come of it just say that you were suspicious of him being drunk and that could be the reason he was driving perhaps slow but erratic and unaware of his surroundings!

first off well done for getting help with the alcohol m8  i wouldnt worry about him calling the police because he doesnt know your name for a start and he was also in the wrong for driving the wrong way up the one way street and for also reversing on a pavement even if it was a driveway as pedestrians have the right of way as well as the fact he was obviously driving without due car and attention if he didnt see your good lady and son.

I'd say you were right to be angry but that he was right to say violence doesn't solve anything. If you'd hit him one of two things could have happened.

1. He phones the police and you get nicked for assault

or possibly worse (and certainly humiliating)

2. He turns out to be some sort of martial arts expert and you get the stuffing knocked out of you (trust me it happens)

Anyway hope your wife and son are ok.

This was posted over the road by someone in East London today.

Maybe they are after you if that's your part of the world.

"Cops cars and 'copters everywhere, never seen so many tearing around with sirens going - at least 30 of 'em. Something nasty must have happened."

Just kidding mate, I very much doubt you have anything to worry about at all. Glad to hear everyone is safe and well, and I personally wouldn't have blamed you if you had slapped him.

im the opposite dave i would have lumped him, but my brain is a london brain and thinks slower than most and dont think what would happen and would have payed for it, you did the right thing mate and as for the report to the police for threatning behaviour his word against yours no witnesses same as his dangerous driving

I wouldnt worry about it mate.

Think about it, what would he say even if he did try to report it to the police.

" Well officer, its like this.... I drove down a one way street the wrong way.

I then parked on the pavement, even though it was school-out time.

Upon deciding that the rules of the road even applied to me I began to turn my car around using someones driveway, in the process almost knocking over a lady and her child.

She told her husband when he arrived and he shouted at me  "

And Good on you for sorting out the alkyhol 8)
