Do you ever wonder what Old Skool Ford shaped treasures are hiding away behind closed doors? The owner totally unaware of its huge desirebility or potential value. Theres a good chance that we all pass within close proximity of such a thing most days, blisfully unaware thats its nestling just a few yards away, all unloved and forgotten about.

Well this is one such garage door that I've been driving past since I can remember.

A few weeks ago, I was out cruising locally in the silver ghia (before it went pop). Wilst cruising, the mobile rang, so I pulled over over and chatted with me bud for a while. Meanwhile, an old boy in a courier van pulled opposite and sat there with some paper in hand. I guessed he was lost and needed directions. Anyway, engrossed in conversation & banter etc, i ignored him!! 10 mins later I hung up and the old boy (still there) shouts over to me

"oi, i've got one of them sittin in me garage." "It's been sat there for 15 years or more. I'm big having a clearout. I'm moving house. Ya can ave it if ya want before the scrapman comes and gets it"

So anyway to cut a very long story short AND nearly not getting the car at all (something to do with the poor mans life going horribly wrong and his house being repossessed etc) it's now mine! I ended up paying a few quid for it in the end. Not to worry though.

I initially layed eyes on it last week. Only just though as it was totally buried. And I really do mean buried!! The whole place was like one of those TV programes where the person who lives there never throws anything out. The whole garden was piled high with crap. I was shown into the garage where the Escort was. (the new owner of the house didn't even know there was a car in there!!!) All I could see was the front of the roof line and about 3 square inches of a front wing!!! Well and truly buried. Any way I left me number and was told I could come back in a few days to collect the car after the place had been cleared.

I was greeted with this.

It's up at my mates garage now. We spent today sorting out all the stuff that was in/on it. A few nice bits n bobs were found  Tried to get it running too. Almost there. Just need to clean out the carb and she should fire up.

:mrgreen::mrgreen: i'd love to find something like that.

me and my mate found a mustang mach 1, hanging, but easy to get panels for, on a driveway, knocked on the door and this little old lady said it was her son's but he moved out years ago. £150 and it's yours. went back and the car was gone!!!! never got an answer :( , and we did knock!!!

Yeah, I've had all those experiences over the years.

The ones where ya door knock em and buy em there and then for peanuts.

Then the "It's not for sale, I'll restore it one day" ones. Yeah right!!

Then the old boy one owner low miles sat on the drive for years green and rusty "It's not for sale, GET ORF MY LAND!!"

Then of course the ones which none of us will ever see or know about

Not too sure what to do with this one yet. It was a buy now then decide what to do with later car

My mate who helped me recover it is robbing the axle for his F2 stock car. Another chap apparently wants the 1300 engine for a kit car or something.

Like many old Fords, it's got good bits & not so good bits.

Ive only had a quick prod around so far.

The OK bits look to be 3x floorpans, inner wings + wing rails quite original, inner sills, bulkhead, O/S chassis, boot floor, C pillars(!)

Not so good is the totally collapsed N/S chassis rail, N/S front floor holed above chassis, sills, arches, wings, boot wells, doors, O/S a pillar just showing signs. It would go again. It's not as bad as some ive seen. It'd make a good class3 Autograss car or 2litre superstox or better stll a classic hot rod!!
