johnny_h Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Worth the price tag I reckon. The only shame is, if you did buy and restore it you would never be able to drive it.
D4N Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Worth the price tag I reckon. The only shame is, if you did buy and restore it you would never be able to drive it. What Johnny said^^ Real shame that you wouldnt really be able to drive it. But worth the money.
Chris! Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Ive seen worse twinks sell for more so i think its worth it
FredTransit Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Ah bless her she was put away at 16 or so. That wheel looks just like the Mk1 transit! It is a lot of wonga but it's a very original car.
sporty-corty16v Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Worth the price tag I reckon. The only shame is, if you did buy and restore it you would never be able to drive it. antz Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Worth the price tag I reckon. The only shame is, if you did buy and restore it you would never be able to drive it. What Johnny said^^ Real shame that you wouldnt really be able to drive it. But worth the money. excuse my ignorence but why not?? built to be driven you spend £80k on a aston martin and drive it daily so say you spend £30 buying and restoring that escort. thats £50k less than an aston martin and you wouldnt drive it? the sooner thats on the road lighting up the rears the better
johnny_h Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It could get dinged, it could rain, a bird could shit on it, it could get dust on it, it could get breathed on... etc

Boreham Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 correct... Build as std 2 dr..for half the money and have no worries... If there rear now...there only gona get rearer.. good value I rercon loks strong and orignal.. Build it..drive it to a few show's... but not an everryday motor I'd say..
Chris! Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It could get dinged, it could rain, a bird could shit on it, it could get dust on it, it could get breathed on... etc get the dint pulled out if you restore it properly rain wont do any damage wash the shit off
FredTransit Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Yep, built to drive! She deserves some life now.
D4N Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Im not saying everyone would resto it and not use it. I was just saying its more than likely that it would be built to tip top condition and not roll on the road. You saying you would resto it and use it everyweekend. Anyway after going to the autosport show and seeing a mint mk1 Rs1600 on a trailer i thought theres nowt wrong with that. Yes it might not hit the road, get its ars end out like a proper escort but just shows what type of car it was back in its day and its a great tribute to the escorts. Just my opinion Obv people have diffrent opinons on this but everyones diffrent.
johnny_h Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It could get dinged, it could rain, a bird could shit on it, it could get dust on it, it could get breathed on... etc get the dint pulled out if you restore it properly rain wont do any damage wash the shit off It's a rare original twink not a 500 pound banger racer.
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2009 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2009 Sorry guys, I'm goint to buck the trend here. I can see it has potential but I wouldn't even for a second entertain the idea of spending £13.5k of my money on something I needed to start again on when I can get a mint road worthy version of it's "lesser" brethren RS2000 or Mexico for much less money.
johnny_h Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Yep, built to drive! She deserves some life now. Go buy it and do it then! Oh you dont have the money? Surprise. All the people saying it should be driven arse out put your money where your mouth is.
boXXer Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 i'd buy it to restore, and flog the thing. gotta be worth 20k restored?
FredTransit Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Where dud I say I don't have the money? I don't really have an urge to buy a Mk1 escort, but if I had one I would drive it, maybe not sideways too often, but I don't do trailer queens!
D4N Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 but I don't do trailer queens! I would never have a trailer queen my self but it is nice to see a lovely looking spotless car.
mk1super Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 If i had the money and the space it would sit in my living room where i'd every morning and night
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2009 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2009 i'd buy it to restore, and flog the thing. gotta be worth 20k restored? If you buy ity for £13.5k and get £20k for it restored, you might just break even. Still think it's worth all that time and effort when you can get a mint Mex / RS2000 for less money than that Twink?
caprinerd Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 im with the understanding a car is made to be driven and this is no exception even if i had a capri scrpio id still drive it, excuse my ignorance but why would anyone buy a car and restore it and then never use it, seems a waste to me. ive had this argument on other forums i belong to and still cant see the point of owning a car that dont get used
bomber1 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 its a orignal car as it sits. but once you buy and restore it it will not be so orignal. it will also have an extra keeper on the log book get a 1300 and mod the arse out of it
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It could get dinged, it could rain, a bird could shit on it, it could get dust on it, it could get breathed on... etc Or if it lives around my way... it'll get stolen
Boreham Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 i'd buy it to restore, and flog the thing. gotta be worth 20k restored? If you buy ity for £13.5k and get £20k for it restored, you might just break even. Still think it's worth all that time and effort when you can get a mint Mex / RS2000 for less money than that Twink? damn right.. and what would be the point of that.. for some of us it'd be adram come true to own an orignal Lotus Mk1.. for others it's just another 2 dr mk1 to modify...
