pc has gone too far, i've been surrounded by left and right wing fans all my life, but only in the last 10 years it's become such an issue that non political people have to watch what they say in fear of offending someone!! i've been hit for being a facist...and hit harder for not being a facist!! in my experience, the only way forward is to pierce everyone's eyes so all you can go on is if you like the individual, or not!!! it's all utter bolx!!!

racist, fattist, vauxhallist, gingerist, shortist, fook!! cant we all just talk?

ps..buy the new album, it addresses all this and more!!

(i've probably accidently offended someone with this post......fook you!!!)

I dont get the problem. If someone is from pakistan their a paki. Theres no changing it, no discussion to be had. No different to calling me a brit. It only changes when the context changes. A F@@kin paki has a total different meaning, thats offensive.

I dont see the harm in generalisation either. What i mean is an asian person, from india, pakistan and other nearby countries being generalised as a 'paki'. Same for east asians from china and japan and such being 'chinkies'. It makes easier for simple minded brits. Theres no harm meant, and if offense is taken just say so or explain.

Its just pc gone mad really.

Me and the missus used tot be good friends with a Spanish girl (before she went back home) who's name was Paqui. We used to get some right old dirty looks from passer's by when reffereing to her and in the end it just made us want to turn around and tell them to 'mind thier own fookin business'.

Its just the usual though, the papers get hold of something and just rip into it, twist it and make it sound as if it's the most henous crime since Adolf's Nazi movement. It sickens me to be honest, which is exactly why I no longer buy a national paper, just the local rag.

And as for this 'Sooty' business, the guy himself has come forward and says he's had the name for year and years and doesn't mind it one bit. I bet you the papers were gutted when he said that......

Oh, and in other news, Enter the Ninja has just started on Dave. Good old 80's cheese, can't beat it.

paki.....thats not offensive, jus watch a pakistani cricket game, u'll hear there captain shouting, 'come on u paki's all fookin game!!'...... This country needs to sort itself out seriously!

we have all used the phrases going for as chinky called some irish a mick or a scot a jock or im going to the paki store so dont go all high and mighty because as a society we have become so focussed on the percieved racism of it im sure that these other cultures have nicknames for us Honkies !

Due to increased need to be PC on every facet of society we have become scared to even sneeze in the direction of anyone that isnt anglo saxon for fear of being called racist its pathetic .

Its a shame that we have become a nation of worriers regarding percieved name calling , if thats the worst thing harry did then its all a little blown out of all proportion , he may be a royal but he may as well be the bosses son for all the influence he has on the world ..... we need to chill out about this bullshit when kids are being bombed by the nation of isreal (musn't say the jews for fear of offending them ! ) see what i mean

its pathetic. Get a life

If the person is a friend and they are fine with being called by a nick name wether it be copper top / sweaty sock / paddy / sooty etc i can not see a problem with it my wife is black (sorry afro carribean) and thinks some of this is way over the top but she does hate the term nigger she can not even watch the film Blazzing Saddles as it makes her feel uncomfortable even though the word is said to show the ignorance of the white people of the time

My wife works at a training centre for Bradford council. A lot of Indians and Pakistanis come in for training. She told us the other year that a Pakistani girl was talking about another girl to one of the trainers and called her a Paki.

She said 'Oh you can't say that, it's offensive'. So she went to the other girl and said 'She's just called you a Paki. Do you want to put in a complaint?'. She answered with a confused look on her face 'No? Why? I am a Paki'.

I have a T Shirt I bought from Next which says 'BRIT' on it in big letters. I have seen round Bradford, Pakistanis wearing T Shirts that say 'PAKI' on it.

I guess it's not the word thats offensive, it's how you say it.

Oh and I have an Indian friend who sends me loads of 'Paki' jokes via text. She thinks they're funny and only gets offended if she gets called a 'Paki'. But thats cos she's Indian and they don't like Pakistanis.

Royals should be shot nothing but a bunch of out of date TWATS....Especially the Queen wouldnt piss on that bitch if she was burning.

I think ultimately the word is not offensive - it's the context in which the word is used...

But even more importantly, I'm shocked at the amount of public interest in the matter... I don't think I could find the royals any more insignificant!

Posted

it all depends on the context... i have a really good asain mate, and we rip the piss out of each others race, from skin to habbits! like i ask him when he's getting the second mobile and merc to go with his brown skin... but i wouldn't say that to some of my asain aquaintances?

simarly, i wouldn't walk up to a fatty in the street and cus them out, but i would insult my mates who are fat!

'insults' are a compliment, as it shows you feel comfortable enough with the person to say what you think and KNOW they will take it in the right manner!

Firstly, if the man was being called sooty by anyone other than Prince Charles would he find it offensive? secondly, every single day black & asian people are verbally abused for no reason. If we say it is acceptable for the Royals to call ethnic minorities names then surely we are saying it is acceptable for anyone to do it and it simply is not. people should be allowed to walk down the street without being called names? Would you like it if it was your kids??????

Whoa there Jed  i happen to find that VERY offensive , and i would think that quite a few members on OSF who are serving or ex-servicemen will as well......

Back to the subject in hand.....

As for racist comments or derogatory comments i am afraid my views would be ( and i have had posts deleted because of this subject ) classed as ...well....racist .

If a " paki " isn"t a Paki what is he / she ? Coloured ? no thats offensive apparently.......Black ? No , same again .....So , what are they ?

A Black man / Women is referred to as Black ....West Indian ? Caribbean ? Brown ? ...... Nigger ? Its all right for the Rappers of this world to to use the phrase but not a White person..........that to me is Racist ! Descrimination due to colour ! Your White you cant use that phrase !

Its a known fact on this Forum and throughout most of my mates and within the Truck drivers of the UK that i am SUMO . Why ? Its my nickname . Has been for 30 odd years . Do i find it offensive ? No , not in the slightest ! Why not ? Because i am a FAT B*ST*RD .:lol:
