Retro-gone. Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 from mid 70's , was at the usual shows, belle veiw, manchester etc, anybody else remember it? from what i remember it had the coolest draylon interior ive ever seen, probably get laughed at nowadays though, except by me.
Stu_B Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 There was a pic of that in a classic capri thread on the NSRA this week
john_3.0s Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 vehicle details 'cant be found' on the dvla site. could just mean the plate has been transferred. looks cool now and yes you would get laughed at these days funny how taste changes one day we will look back at what we are doing now and ask our selves what the f00k we were thinking
MightySprocket Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 i know we owe a lot to the Hot Rod scene, but IMO we dont seem to have pulled it off over here compared to the Americans. the UK cars like that with chops and jacked up back ends is just kinda looks stoopid to me
Retro-gone. Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 ah man how can you say that looks stoopid?? were you around when jack up and roof chops were at their peak? i guess every man has is opinion, i think with me its the 'retro' thing again, anything that reminds me of the fookin fantastic times me and my mates had in the 70's gets my vote.
Retro-gone. Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 then again this guy wasnt impressed in 1978 by the sound of it, 1st letter on left
Admin Vista Posted March 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted March 5, 2009 Roof chop Jack up I was only young in the 70's but I didn't like the Jack up look then and still don't now. That said, I don't like everything that's in fashion today either.
Retro-gone. Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 thats what makes the custom/modded car world so good, everyone has their own taste
Stu_B Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 All ya pics have gone I love Jack ups & roof chops not a big fan of draylon or funny lights though
MightySprocket Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I like a bit of rake, but i think the way they do it now is better, the car still sitting low maybe with larger rims at the back or even a profile up on the tyres. its just side pipes, furry dashes and glitter paint just dont look right to me. each to there own i guess
MightySprocket Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 retro your car would look good with lower profiles on the front did you sell yours?
Retro-gone. Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 dont even fookin go there are the pics back? i was clearin out my photobucket and mustve deleated em.
Lee-Mk2 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Have to say I like the slightly taller tyres. Never really liked the ultra low profile look.
FredTransit Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 vehicle details 'cant be found' on the dvla site. could just mean the plate has been transferred. looks cool now and yes you would get laughed at these days funny how taste changes one day we will look back at what we are doing now and ask our selves what the f00k we were thinking I don't think the plate was transferred, I put it onto an HPI website and it didn't come up at all, and this usually gives a make and model from the plate alone, where as the DVLA needs the plate and make. https://www.autocheck.co.uk/index.html? ... 31468D446C
5hane Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 like it, i like the 'jacked up' cars, on the right car it can look really cool. and roof chop's are reallly cool but again on the right car. IMO a mk1 or mk2 escort wouldnt look right, wheas a 100e, 105e, capri, cortina (i think mk2 more than 1 personally) it would work.

capriz Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I was born too late wish i was around in the 70s running a v8 as a daily driver for naff all petrol was cheap the music was cool i hate all this modern world bring back pure man and machine no ecu s
