DEP Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Yes i know its not everyone's cup of tea , But what a great race, I think its gonna be a good season Well done to Jensen Button, And well done to the team, Who would be believe they didn't exist 3 weeks ago. Great result
Mrs O/H/C Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Yep, set the alarm and watched it in bed.. good start to the season Also congrats to chocolate button for he managed to get off the line first for a change without ruining it. BUT what the hell was going on with the safety car going round what seemd ages before button caught up and then by the time that happened it was time for the sc to come back in
deltamal Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Yes, good resault! next one should be inturesting, with Mr Hamilton hopefully starting at the front of the grid, he did well to get from the back of the pach to P4!
jimbo Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 It a really good season opener. I'm delighted for the Brawn team. Real fairy tale stuff BUT what the hell was going on with the safety car going round what seemd ages before button caught up and then by the time that happened it was time for the sc to come back in The safety car came our onto the track right behind button as he left the pits so, in order to keep tyres as warm as possible, he meandered his way around the track before catching up with the SC. That's how I interpreted it at least
pauln Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I see the griping led by Ferrari (whenever they get beaten) has started already about the legality of Brawns and others rear wings. If Mclaren had won i suspect they would have been stripped of the victory by now on a similar appeal(though I see Hamilton is 3rd now). On a slightly different note are'nt the cars ugly with the big front and small rear wings, I know it's to reduce dirty air behind the cars but the proportions seem all wrong.
Trevmk3 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 was a good race, and was good to see different faces up on the podium, Trulli got a 25 sec penalty for overtaking under the safety car, thats why hamilton was 3rd. couldnt believe Vettel and Kubica though
marky4 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 a very good race and great to see button winning
garyv6100e Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Was a good race and i thought the BBC coverage was very good and no adverts and sour grapes by ferrari (and others) because they did not think of the rear diffuser 1st
Admin Vista Posted March 29, 2009 Admin Report Posted March 29, 2009 Watched the lead in and start in Austria this morning and caught the remainder of the race on video when I got in. BUT (crucial data required here) as the intro this morning was on German TV (so I understood sweet FA) and stupidly I'd set my video forgetting that the clocks went forward last night so didn't get the British TV intro. Has THE CHAIN been reinstated as the theme tune now F1 is back where it belongs? On a slight downside my bladder evidently isn't as good as it was when it was last on the Beeb as I used to be able to get through a race without needing a piss break.......................NOT anymore! Well done JB let's hope he has a few more victories, good knows he's waited long enough for them! And way to go Lewis for a major piece of damage limitation!
Admin Vista Posted March 29, 2009 Admin Report Posted March 29, 2009 Yep, The Chain is back!!! Excellent, that news is almost as sweet as JB's win. ITV screwed around with the theme tune every year and it was always crap, especially that early rubbish from Jamiroquai! (I didn't mind the Iron Maiden "Can I play with Madness advert intro's though ) Here's a real classic, Murray Walker commentating from 1979! Was that guy born in the F1 commentary box??
lazy Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 yeah it was a great race hamilton just didn't have the pace even tho he did get to 3rd i think that was mostly down to others dropping out or further down the grid. I think hamilton needed abit of a wake up call. great to see jenson up there tho i think he has just proved how good he really is. and the cars do look crap there all the same i think the teams should have freedom to design the cars how they like, get some cool looking f1 cars again you know like the ones i mean, really high rear wings, or 6wheels. but at least it is starting to get more interesting. Bring back murrey walker those other two make so many errors, at least when murrey did you felt like it was part of his charm!!!
Daggle Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Was a good race and i thought the BBC coverage was very good and no adverts and sour grapes by ferrari (and others) because they did not think of the rear diffuser 1st Damn straight!! the BBC coverage was great, I have spent the last 12 years tearing my hair out over the coverage on ITV, it turned the sport into an absolute shambles, crap presenters, adverts all over the place. Nice to see Martin Brundle keeping his job, he done a great job, not to sure about DC and Eddie Jordan doing guest interviews, bit wooden for me. Still fantastic to see it back, I love it, now all we need is some decent BTCC action with works teams and more rallying....
Yeomans22 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 great race, but did anyone think they need to bring Murray walker back?
pauln Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 great race, but did anyone think they need to bring Murray walker back? Not in a million years.
DanV Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 great race, but did anyone think they need to bring Murray walker back? Not in a million years. Not even if it was just a GO GO GO as the lights change!? Id love to see/hear him back. I thought it was a good race. I was a child last time i managed to watch the F1 without getting bored. Look forward to seeing how this season unfolds
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Nor me. Used to watch every Qualifying session and Grand Prix since I could remember, but seriously went off it when they fitted all those stupid gadgets to the cars (early - mid 1990's). I haven't watched a race since. My dad still always watches Qualifying and Grand Prix events, even when it was on ITV.
tazrocks88 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 great race, but did anyone think they need to bring Murray walker back? Not in a million years. totaly agree he was awfull
bortaf Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 What a race, i'm sooo glad i'm not the only one who missed ITV for the piss break LH did bloody well never mind people going off he overtook like 20 cars during the race ! some 3 times due to pit stops He could have sat at the back in 185h and jumped from 18th to 16th when Vettel and Kubica went off but he didn't he made his own luck The first corner was a wee bit naughty wernt it Kovi hit Rubens up the arse that pushed him into webber and then it all went off, great stuff, BGP certainly buit a strong car this year did anyone hear the driver before the ceramony ? Rubens said to Ross i broke it pretty good

Trevmk3 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I didn't mind the Iron Maiden "Can I play with Madness advert intro's though i didnt mind that aswell, for the first 2 rounds of the season then it got very annoying with the ammount of breaks they were having. they always went for a break when something looked as though it was going to happen, then it would come back and all you would see is a replay
