jayson2.3pinto Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 engine make it go faster faster faster faster and then make it go faster when this is all done then make it even faster
quickrack Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 My last car looked rough but i had it heavily tuned. New one is just cammed and a big weber but got body done first. SO.... Ask me in 6 months!
sambo Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Normally i would say, make a nice balance between the two, but now i think pick one and plough everything you got into it. My view would be to get the car strong and sound or even restored and looking how you want it, then when you got the cash, upgrade the power.
marky4 Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 ideally half and half but if one then i would make sure body is sound and rot free first
Awesome Al Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Well i thought your body looked just fine baby Sorry could'nt resist it No i'll stop now, starting to sound like a perv, if the body work looks ok from 5 feet away i'd do engine work!
MightySprocket Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Ill bet this motor gets loads of attention and deserves massive respect http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... highlight= looks awesome but probably not too quick, I love a clean motor
bomber1 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 that yellow two door is the so clean and never fooked around with if the body is clean big brakes then a big engine
Gareth Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'd try to do both If it's sound but not mint, I'd (I'm gonna) flat bubbles, pull out dents, etc. Then I'd do some choice mods to the engine, to get the most bang for buck
deluxe Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 a 1600 sport engine with about 84 ish hp instead of the standard 57hp 1300 would probly be the easiest and cheapest bang. Cost of more bang would increase more than proportionally with buchs
antz Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 bodywork because you get more looks when your car looks good.. farie enough a minted engine is fun but its also fun just to get the looks. bodywork for me and rack up the ponies as time goes by and funds allow
johnboy Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 For me its engine anyday, dont get me wrong I like my cars to look smart but have you ever noticed at shows and meets that its always the slightly ratty looking sleepers, with grubby engine bays that tend get the most interest and are generally the faster motors?
Gareth Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 a 1600 sport engine with about 84 ish hp instead of the standard 57hp 1300 would probly be the easiest and cheapest bang. Exactly Cost of bang would increase more than proportionally with bucks Depending on what u do.. You'll spend a helluva lot on gettin say a pinto head modified. But, if u buy a scrap injection Sierra, the ports are already bigger than a carb head. You've also got the later 205 block ready for overboring later on
mk2 stu Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Got to be bodywork, after all thats what i do!! But i think a nice looking motor even if its slow can still turn heads at a cruise, just looks silly when you try takin anything on!
bomber1 Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 my old girl is defantly not the prettyest but she still gets all the attention
RETRO_AL Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 suppose it depends what you mean by body work,if you have a good solid shell but the paint it not so good, then i would go engine BUT if your shell is a bit fooked and needs tidying i would start there first
martymk1 Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 id have something like mick rodgers mk3 cortina if i could afford it seen it in the flesh, have to agree with you
S2 Dee Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Make the shell solid first. Once that is done pretty and power as you can.
Rick Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 id much rather have something that looks good rather than goes well. theres too many heaps on the road with big engines. its all about posing who will appreciate your work if they only see you for half a second as you zoom off
Gibson Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 i can never decide... on day i wil get up in the morning and devote the day too paint prep and body work. somedays i will start King around with the running gear ready for the V8...?
Doc Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Cos i only drive in town ....Body work but always have a minimum of V6 under the right foot
Jimsiss Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Rat look sleeper stylee but obviously the mex is going to be good body and engine
BIG G Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 As its a propper rs i would get the bodywork done as thats how it will hold its money but my evil altered ego says GET IT TUNED UP!!!!!!! All show and no go makes jo a dull girl !!!!!!!!
