MightySprocket Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 in 30 years time will people be as passionate about the characterless cars of today? can you imagine a focus having a following like any of the OSFs
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 14, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 14, 2006 I think the RS focus will be a "collectable" (not really sure that is the righ word) car but not in the way that our cars are now
MightySprocket Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 Worst thing Ford has done is to loose the RS badge! drove a fiesta ST recently and althought it was resonably good fun they just don't leave a lasting impression..... very synthetic
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 14, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 14, 2006 I think that if they bought back the Cosworth badge/association then they might produce something that will become iconic although I still don't think it will have the same appeal as ours do in years to come
Rick Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 times change who knows the st's will prob be sought after, back in the 70's mk1 escorts were ten a penny. now every1 seems to want one
Twinkle Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 lets face it though i dont think the kia pride is gonna be an iconic motor
MightySprocket Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 fingers crossed ford re-release the RS after the win this year
Dom Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Well I hope Ford do make a cosworth something, but the chances are if they do it won't be any good. They'll sterilise it, thats what they'll do. They, for some reason, will never make something that was as good as a sierra, or better, an escort cossie. They'll probably make it FWD and put the engine the wrong way round!!!! They'll go stupid with it, they need someone in charge to say 'Look guys, its about time we made a decent motor'
Mk 1 Mark Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 fingers crossed ford re-release the RS after the win this year And make them RWD and cosworth power please!!!
V8ian Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I think that if they bought back the Cosworth badge/association then they might produce something that will become iconic although I still don't think it will have the same appeal as ours do in years to come As ford do not own Cosworth anymore, I doubt if the badge will re appear in the near future on a Ford, I have heard a rumor that there will be a Cosworth VAUXHALL in the pipeline
Morley Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I think that if they bought back the Cosworth badge/association then they might produce something that will become iconic although I still don't think it will have the same appeal as ours do in years to come Cosworth VAUXHALL
Retromotorsport Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Well I hope Ford do make a cosworth something, but the chances are if they do it won't be any good. they need someone in charge to say 'Look guys, its about time we made a decent motor' They Did..The Ford GT
Admin Vista Posted December 14, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 14, 2006 Well I hope Ford do make a cosworth something, but the chances are if they do it won't be any good. they need someone in charge to say 'Look guys, its about time we made a decent motor' They Did..The Ford GT I was gonna say that Looks like our Lord J.C. hasn't got much good to say about their reliability though.
Stu_B Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I saw a black GT yesterday! beautifull car!
Dom Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Bit different though ain't it as its a Ford Yank as opposed to Ford Eco-Fiendly Europe (and yes I did mean to spell it fiendly). They made the Focus RS which is a nice car but i'd rather have had Steve Scotts version. I'm in a way dissapointed that the RS badge has faded and been replaced with ST and whatnot but thinking about it, RS's are special, and theres nothing very special about ST's so i'd have gotten the hump if they had called all the new stuff RS's. Ain't no pleasin some people p.s Whilst the Ford GT isn't the most reliable car, its sooo good it can make you buy it twice
Gareth Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I think the appeal of Old Skool cars is u can fix 'em on ur drive New cars will never have that, or the timeless character that comes with anything made from about 1980 back...
Retromotorsport Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Re the Ford GT .... Its more British than American... may have been produced over there and the British workers where kept out of the video for the making of it ... but belive me, they where there, or it wouldnt have been a great car, infact they would have stuck Cart springs on it. And its still the best car produced in America today ... according to JC
60ftman Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm just waiting for my Cougar and the wife's Fiesta ST to become old skool.............................................
atomic punk Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 If they stopped making them out of plastic and stuffing them full of computers, and put real soul into them, maybe then theyd be sought after as our OSFs are now......
Mr Sam Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 nevaaaaaaaaaaar unless they start re-making propper OSF's...........okay maybe they could change the fiesta to RWD and produce the mk1 with a cossie option, oh and the capri with a V8 option of course
Gareth Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 The only way I could see any new one becomin an iconic OSF is if Ford produced a 'modernised' Capri, like Ford USA and Dodge did
S2 Dee Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I think not. I doubt many current cars will be around in 30 years, the were will probably be more OSF's on the road than current focus / fiesta / c-max, etc. The majority of modern cars have no soul. Dee
DeuceCoupe Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 don't think the cars will last like the osf they don't make them like they used too
