PLASTIC FORD show at santa Pod...

Recommended Posts

As for the car on fire on the M1, if it was the one on the way home, it wasnt a classic, it was a Crysler 300c but there was a red mk1 escy broken down just behind it. :

Sadly, it wasn't. It was in the morning on the way there. Poor bugger got within 30 miles of Santa Pod.

on the way down i got overtaken by 3 osfs, and i lost count of cosworths and focus rs's that passed me.

also gutted for the owner of the MK1 escort that burnt out on the motorway

Was it black and silver??? If so that was me.... traffic wasnt going anywhere so pulled off so I didnt overheat

I had a great day, and considering I woke up still pissed this monrning after 4 and a half hours sleep I did pretty well. Cheers to Darren and all the other guys that keep this place going, it was a fantastic day.

As for the plastic, yea it a bit annoying, but I find it more amusing just to laugh at them. And it's pretty pointless complaining on here, much better off writing into Classic Ford Magazine as they're the event organisers. Perhaps they can put an age limit on the stands or something.

Never the less, I can't wait for next years one, will definately be camping this time, I won't be having my birthday on the same weekend again.

:D

Thought it was a really good show today, good to meet some of the people off the forum in person & to get a chance to see some really nice cars.

Me & Fastferret saw the fire damaged escort mk1 on the M1 on the way to the 'pod this morning  Really sad to see someones pride & joy damaged like that, gutted for the owner.

if you take the newer cars out.. you'll have the same number of OSF's ... but fewer people admiring them, and the show survives on the money at the gate, fewer cars, fewer people and one dead show ...

You dont have to look at them at the end of the day

Sorry mate, thats complete b***ox,

no osf's ,= no show classic ford show,

Where as no plastic, still an classic ford show.

Actually, me and Gareth reckoned there were fewer newer Fords in attendance than last year - and this year was a much busier show.

You can't turn folk way because of what car they drive - not everyone is in a position to own a classic Ford. We all go to the show to appreciate old Fords and see them in action. As Gary says, if you don't like, walk on by.

Thanks to everyone who came to the show and made it a massive success. Despite being everyone's bitch, I did manage to sneak out to catch up with a few new and old faces - most of which I reckon will be looking very purple this morning.

Roll on 2010!

Puddy.. you missed the point.

If you took out the plastic.. you would have the same number of OSF's there, every one with an OSF can get in, with what ever club they belong to,

Take away the visiting clubs and you have less money, if the show dosnt make a profit.. there would be no show.

Perhaps its just me... but i can walk past a visiting club with Mondeo's on it .. allthough if one happens to be a ex BTCC car i'll stop and give it a good look over.

:woohoo: Can I bring my classic Alfa as well as my escort next year then?

I didn't think there were that many really modern fords, but I was a little surprised at the owners who'd brought along a scorpio estate and another with a chavved up Cougar. I'm quite happy to walk by without looking at them so they don't bother me too much. I wouldn't want it to go too far though, I no longer go to Ford fair because of the rows and rows of identical blue mondeo ST's and Focus's.

One thing though, if the weather is like this again next year please please please can we have it on the grass? Tarmac is so hot and there was no where near enough space where the OSF stand was. I know you have to deal with a possible wet weather show but how about having a contingency plan for either eventuality? Chilling out sat on the grass is much more fun (for me) than burning my legs on the tarmac.

Two good things came out of it:

1) The plastic crap got decimated by the OSF tin apart from one 4WD MK4 Escort which decimated all.

was a mk3 scort wasnt it?? i thought it was pretty impresive. lot of workmanship gone into it!! 8)

Sadly, the days of having most of the show on the grass are over. :?

there was a ot of modern stuff there but I just walked past it. It doesnt interest me but I love seeing the newer stuff getting owned on the strip.

I agree with Vista that the OSF standw as in the crappest place possible. No where near enough room and crammed into that small section like a Morrisons carpark.
