sab6024 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I enjoy CF show every year and am quite partial to a jelly mould and even most of the newer Fords. I have owned several OSFs in the past and want to again in the future. I look at the fact that the Mk1 Escy wasn't a classic once. It doesn't matter how much people moan the Focus ST/RS will in fact be a classic in the future. I will be going to FF and I will be taking a plastic, does that mean that I'm no longer welcome on here? I'm on another forum now which is full of plastics.....they go to FITP, FF and CF show and I haven't read a thread yet which slags off the number of classics at a particular show. I had to go to the car park to see the car I really wanted to see this weekend and that carries an 09 plate So why does everyone feel the need to moan, if you don't like it, walk past until you find summat you do like.

EscortHeadCase Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I have read the whole of this thread and while i agree that some of the cars that turn up theres "Classic" status is questionable . But i like cossies that have been done nicely, but as has been said this is down to my age (plus my old mans got a gartrac rearwheel drive bubble arch cossied puma). At the end of the day doesnt it all just really boil down to the fact that we should be amazingly greatful we dont all drive something French.......

Admin Vista Posted June 2, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 2, 2009 I'm going to say this ONCE more for everybodies benefit. OSF as a site is NOT opposed to other classic fords that aren't considered OSF's (on here) from being present at the Classic Ford show, it is not an OSF show and we do NOT consider it to be so. There are some OSF users that think that some of the cars that were on some stands were a bit modern to be represented at a classic car show, they are entitled to those views and are also entitled to express them without being accused of narrow mindedness or anything else. Equally people that think it's fine to display 18 month old cars show are entitled to express their reasons why but insults either way aren't acceptable.

4parajon Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 well i had a great time at the show, nearly all the cars i like, the way i see things, if the car is no longer made and its getting on a bit then its a classic. Welcome to the site Rob, dont let peoples narrowmindedness (is that an actual word) put you off the site.
Admin Vista Posted June 2, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 2, 2009 is insulting the french and there cars allowed on here? As a former British serviceman I say that insulting the French is not only welcome, it is to be actively encouraged Did you hear for instance that the French military has raised its alert status from "run" to "hide" on account of a fire in their white flag factory?
bortaf Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 It seems i'm in a small minoraty in thinking Mk4 escorts and 5ierras are classic now, my wifes modern daily (Mk4 escort strangely enough) has just passed 20, failed it's first MOT last week on rust, has a ford badge on it, tell me that aint a classic Jesus, chill pill peeps, time stands still for no man and certainly no car, there are plastic bumperd classics, tough, deal with it, move on , enjoy life
FredTransit Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 That's why I think it would be better to have an age limit, rather than a year. And the age wouldn't be two!
EscortHeadCase Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Hurrah!! How many french soldiers does it take to defend paris?.... No one knows as its never been tried. Why are all the major roads into paris edged with trees? ....So the Germans can march in the shade. I saw a 2CV convoy up near me, Theyd all stopped to give each other advice on how to turn right without it falling over at the roundabout ahead....
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 2, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 2, 2009 We must all agree to disagree I think

BIGKEV Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 i BLOODY HATE THIS ARGUMENT. i DONT CARE AT ALL - WAS A NICE DAY - PEOPLE WERE ENJOYING THEMSELVES DOES IT REALLY MATTER????????
richie_stix Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Did you hear for instance that the French military has raised its alert status from "run" to "hide" on account of a fire in their white flag factory?
EscortHeadCase Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 This is why frenchmen should not be allowed to drive british classic sportscars. (p.s Does it look like hes surrendering to anyone else?) http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2451888/Spectacular-Lotus-crash-driver-escapes-with-bruises.html
Admin Vista Posted June 2, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 2, 2009 That looks really nasty, lucky to escape that with such minor injuries!
EscortHeadCase Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 i did make a french fry joke afterwards which was met with a glare from my girlfriend ....
andy a Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 But is 2 door plastic better than 4 door plastic?
Guest robj20 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 well i had a great time at the show, nearly all the cars i like, the way i see things, if the car is no longer made and its getting on a bit then its a classic. and what car you got rob I have an R S Turbo as you know.
5hane Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 agree with Bigkev. all stop moaning about it, it really is boring it was a good show and most of the cars were oldskool (IMO c ossies, and rst's, mk2 fezzas ARE classics) yes there was a few that were new, but who cares? as said i bet there not slagging us off ??!?!?!? for no real reason ? why are people arguining anyway? its done? if you saw one two many new cars, simply - dont come. as next year it will be the sammee moaning over and over.
JP. Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I saw lots of classic Fords & Ol'Skool Fords. I also saw several "few year" old ( or say new) Fords which in my opinion should be at the carpark. In Holland a car becomes a classic when its 25 year old that means that some Siera´s are classic too these days even like those mk3 escys. Remember not all mk3 Capri´s are even 25 years old yet, so how about those Brookland 280´s.............................. If you realy say Classic´s only that means that those Brooky´s are not alowed too. So please be a bit more open minded and keep the scene alive.
Trevmk3 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 im not too fussed as it makes the show bigger, i just dont go looking round them new cars as i could go and look at one in the street but i can still walk past (need the exercise too ) is it just me that spotted a pug 106 amongst one of the stands
