iv been 140 ish fiat coupe turbo on work experiance

and i had a full race warter cooled mini moto a while ago i could beat mopeds at 50mph (it feels alot faster that close to the floor ) :D

thing is though its not the speed that gets you its the area, my mum could drive 150 mph down the motorway, but doing 100 in a 30 thats the dangerous thing, thats what kills people and what should be stopped and enforced, I personally think motorways should be raised to at least 90 if not 100 mph limit and more resources spent stopping the silly little chavs in their saxos ragging around schools etc...

that is so true

i have been passenger at 120 in my mates GTO but it also got there 'kin quick!!!

I don't care how fast people want to drive, its the places that people decide to drive fast that cause the problem, also the age and lack of experiance that gets people into trouble. Here's one to through into the argument, how about having a BHP limit on young and inexperienced drivers? it works for mopeds when your 16. Why then when your 17, if you have the money you can go out and buy whatever you want?

Im not a spoilsport, just fed up with having to go round families houses and telling them, their son/daughter etc etc, died cause they were a prat and drove too fast for the road/conditions etc etc....

If I never went to another Fatal cause this law came in, I couldn't give a toss about the amount of people I would upset

got to agree with that, after being involved in a car crash and being in hospital for 10days i wouldnt want any friend or family put in hospital or worse

thing is you dont think about how fast you're going when youre doin it its when you think about it that scares you :? and i have had too many m8 scraped off the road - purely because they were in-experienced in overpowered cars

Yep I agree, but I do think our whole speed limit system needs reviewing too. I'm not proposing anything ridiculous like the German Autobahns, but our 70 mph limit was set in the dark ages of drum brakes and cart horse suspension. Besides most cars struggled to reach that anyway.

I feel 80 is probably a reasonable limit for modern cars, but also think that limits should be lower in towns and cities. Housing estates & the vicinity of schools or anywhere else children might be playing get a 20 vote from me.

P.S. It hasn't always been that way with bikes, when I sat my bike test I had a 125 squib in the morning, passed at lunch time and drove home having traded the squib in for a GPZ900R..... the original Hyper bike :whack it: by christ was it fast!

I agree with raising the limit on M roads, but again im probably gonna get shot down in flames again, but there should be more traffic cops about as well. Hopefully then, we can catch some more idiots that drive dangerously/Drunk/On Drugs or Disqualified.....

Im not here to spoil everyone's fun and I couldn't give a toss if you want to tear the arse out your car, but just be responsible about where you do it and when, if you want to play then find a nice quiet road, don't do it in the middle of town on a Friday night, when pissed ppl are stepping out in front of you

I know what you are saying Daggle, a BHP limit would restrict the cars power therefore no more high speed crashes involving young drivers, but, it is the inexperience that is the real problem, if you limit a car in the same way as a truck say 56mph on a dual carrigeway/motorway that would be a fairly safe speed, on a one car wide country lane that is suicide, and the fact is they are going to do it no matter what,

I think most people agree with you anyway.

Personally I'd happily trade more traffic cops for less Speed cameras and revenue vans thinly disguised as "safety" cameras

I don't think there is anything on the roads today that alienates the average motorist more than these thinly disguised cash cows.

honestly i believe its a problem will will always be faced with -whatever rules you bring in people will always break them :? but i seriouls think more needs to be done to limit young drivers - every week theres another story about how a 17 year old driver dyed with 3 of his m8's . . . .

But if you know that your car is only capable of going at 56mph or what ever, then I think that most people would drive to its capabilites. Anyway its pointless as we all know that everyone would just de-restrict them anyway  and how would you ever enforce a law like that
