Slik 50 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 How many of these ppl have added a few mph on though!! Plus i bet that not many speedos were calibrated either, so you could have a 10% + or - on what is actually showing on your speedo. TBH I have added about 70 mph to my statement and no my speedo ist calibrated and its about 100% out! it dosnt work
mk1mexico Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Tut tut mr slik thats illegal All on private test tracks i had 145 in my ST24 (hit the rev limiter in top gear ) 155 in my import scooby (still own) 140 in my old clio 172 cup (the most scary by far) 90 in the mk1
Slik 50 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 If I was to be bruteally honest. I drive like a cock! I know I drive like a cock. If I get caught driving lika cock I am more than willing to accept the conciquenes. I can sit at 30 around town all day long. I can sit at about 70-75 on the motorway wethout a worry! While on the motorway, I like to see good lane manners. Near me is a strech of motorway about 6 miles long and 4 lanes wide. Now this seems to confuse most foke, so they tend to sit in any lane they choose. If I am in the far left lane, and aproching you and you are in a lane to my right, I WILL undertake you! But then people flash their lights at me like im some kind of crazed moron Then as im dissapering into the horizon, thet still sit in the same lane W*NKERS...... But I know if I get caught im in the wrong and thats fine i will take my punisment! But I think it should be compulsary for people to take lessons on how to drive on the motorway. Also the amount of times I have been stuck behind someone joining the motorway at 45 mph is unreal. I honestly think that the people that get me wound up to the point where I start to drive unsafe are unsafe to be on the road them selfs.
Slik 50 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 90 in the mk1 You have never had 90 out of your mk1 I thought it toped out at 60
darkangel Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 see where u coming from lol i saw a good 1 other day sum plonk sat in middle lane on m1 going slow a lorry went to overtake and the twat wouldnt move so lorry undertakes in slow lane and takes out half his side where do they get licence from .........kellogs perhaps? lol
mk1mexico Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 90 in the mk1 You have never had 90 out of your mk1 I thought it toped out at 60 Good job it dont have a rev counter thats all i can say
mk2_escort_chick Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 140 as passenger in my friends saxo vts. I know its a saxo, but it's the only one we'll allow to be associated with our group...hehehe!
Daggle Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 140 as passenger in my friends saxo vts. I know its a saxo, but it's the only one we'll allow to be associated with our group...hehehe! Mmmm bet thats safe, I wouldn't want to be a passenger in anything that small.... I like something a bit more chunky around me, plus a few airbags also helps
mk2_escort_chick Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Indeed it was small but there were air bags surrounding me- well one in front at least. Was some scary stuff
Daggle Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Still only a little car though, if your mate lost it at around 140 then there wouldn't be much left of anyone in the car, airbag in front or not, just hope your mate realises the chances he takes with his mates in the car if he drives like that
mk2_escort_chick Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 He's only ever driven like it once with me in the car- cant say what he's been like with anyone else. I know only too well about not much being left of cars after an accident because thats how we lost lee. I wasnt exactly sitting in the car going- faster, c'mon max out your speedo. I'm sure many people in here have done stupid speeds!
Admin Vista Posted December 21, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 21, 2006 I'm sure many people in here have done stupid speeds! don't worry you're not alone in the speed Sin Bin. Plenty of people have owned up to being reckless lunatics that endanger all other road users
Gareth Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 To be fair tho, I'm not an impatient driver. I really dont see the necessity in goin upto the red line everytime-like some of my m8s do But on the other hand I'll still give it some on a clear roundabout when i'm on my own or if there's one other passenger. Not my g/f tho, I'd get a hiding!! I wouldn't start jus drivin like a kn0b with no warning. I took a m8 out for a quick spin in me Capri tuesday night. I said we'd go a little sideways, and we did. I wouldn't have if he said no. I know what its like wneh someone spins a car a 65 into the central barrier on a dual carriageway..... Not pleasant.
Retromotorsport Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Indeed it was small but there were air bags surrounding me- well two in front at least. Was some scary stuff I've corrected that for you
Messenjah Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 lol passenger at 155 speed limiter in the jag clear motorway early morning good conditions and i would say it was relatively safe passenger at 120 in a mondeo which then decided to have a blowout of the front passenger tyre but dad held it straight and slowed down gradually and pulled onto the hard shoulder have never been more impressed with his driving lol . fastest ive driven is about 90 downhill with a following wind in the landrover
Jimsiss Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 well i'm plesantly surprised ... theres a lot of sensible people posting here .. the thread starter though.. If anyone wanted to do 200mph (which is very doubtfull on a dual carrigeway) with me as a passenger, the moment they stopped the car I would be kicking the living daylights out of them. And the Racedriver .... well he should know better , if he wants to keep his race licence 200mph very doubtful? I think not, our local bypass has a big long straight and this MR2 was one of the prototypes that TRD did while trying to find the best cars for use in racing, it was then fully converted to UK spec (including the speedo calibration), I don't condone speeding but it is fun , oh and the bypass was empty, we made sure of it as the guy driving has lost many friends due to reckless driving I agree that there should be a limit on younger drivers, maybe they should only be allowed bigger cars with another licence?
groomers Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 fastest ive been as a passenger is 170 in a 911 gt3 with the customer driving coz he had a rattle at speed plus he is a ex traffic cop as well so really should have known better! i have had the rs at 145 with my old 2.1 wonder why it blew up! i agree with everyone on the subject of speeding there is a time and a place for everything a busy road with kiddies running around isnt the place for speed!
Retromotorsport Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Jimsiss, how can you be sure the bypass was empty???? Its impossible to know if anything empty or clear unless its a closed road or on a racetrack with marshals. And before you argue that it was clear i suggest you read Jo's post about what she met on the motorway. if your being stupid on the public road your more likely to meet someone else as equally as stupid ... trouble is your going too quick to do anything about it ... if you had met some idiot driving the wrong way at 100mph thats a closing speed of 300mph .. or 5mpm or 0.8mps .... almost a mile a second, Think about that 4 length of a drag strip in a second!!! now tell me you can decide what to do and take action in under 1 second, because you'll probably only see the other car a mile away* .. you wouldnt even get a scream out before your dead . Hope you relise why i said what i said now * probably less because the vision isnt what is should be at 200mph in a car
Retromotorsport Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 And just so people know what a TRD MR2 is .. heres the factory spec car http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z318 ... fault.aspx
Slik 50 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Im not saying your not right jimsiss, but is that thing capable of 200 mph?
johnboy Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 200mph in an Mr2! Yeah OK jimsiss, i once got 150mph out of a VW polo. Honest.
MadMark2 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 well im sure you will all be pleased to know i did my 186+ (calibrated) on a runway at a pre launch event for the as new then 996 911 turbo P.S. would of gone faster but ran out of runway............
johnboy Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 The 200mph mr2 wasnt on that really straight section on the Aps2 near Granturismoville was it?
