petrolhead Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I wasn't expecting too much when I went to see this at the cinema. I rarely give films 9/10 but f*cking hell District 9 gets a firm 10/10! If you like Sci Fi you will definitely like it
Stu_B Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I saw it last week... amazing Best film I've seen for a long time.
Copey Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 i keep hearing good things may have to go see it

redrocket Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I'm normally a critic that sits and pokes hole's in things that shouldnd/couldnd/wouldnd happen in movies, and have to agree, great movie, didnt cross the "stupid line"
flyingbanana Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 or just watch it online http://www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/district_9/
GT_Jim Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I'm normally a critic that sits and pokes hole's in things that shouldnd/couldnd/wouldnd happen in movies, and have to agree, great movie, didnt cross the "stupid line" I totally agree, its really well made and follows a similar filming style to cloverfield i thought
Fishtailparka Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Didn't cross the stupid line???? Did you not notice the bit where the fella turned into a prawn?
GT_Jim Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 yea i would have expected a mix of the two but its better than most of the usual tripe the yanks send over
evil knievel Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 i'll certainly be going to watch this
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 18, 2009 Admin Report Posted September 18, 2009 Might go see this then It's not jumpy camera work like Cloverfield is it though That made me feel a bit queasy lol
Stu_B Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 There is some shakey camera stuff but it's not constant
BIGKEV Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 I agreee - a very very awesome film

petrolhead Posted September 18, 2009 Author Report Posted September 18, 2009 I find that sometimes an original film comes out that has a modest budget, non-american accents and a virtually unknown cast and absorbs you far more than the Hollywood ‘blockbusters’. An example of this would be ‘28 days later’ or ‘Train spotting’. District 9 has all of the above but mixes in real interviews with actors and it is filmed in real South African slums. The CGI is used extensively but is done so well that you completely forget about it. I also like the fact that there are no Bruce Willis characters in here - just a very ordinary (slightly geeky) guy and how he reacts when absolutely terrified and facing a hideous death. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but watch it and find out. I wanted to go straight back in a see again after I walked out of the cinema.
sambo Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Instant classic. Its got nothing but awesome reviews. Loved it!
MM77 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I saw 5mins of this film and begged my mate to turn it off. If I understand the plot correctly, there's a bunch of sick aliens and they're brought to earth to be healed. Is this right?? If so, WTF would a doctor on earth know about fixing an alien?
petrolhead Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 you missed out fella and you got the plot completely wrong. First 5 mins or 20mins is not a good snap shot of what the film is like.

It was a random 5mins from halfway through the film After hearing all these comments will definitely check it out again though

It would be tough to follow both with the filming and finding a plot that can work but there are several angles in which to go I hope its not the last of a film like this though
