Mr.Sumo Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 mmmm , dilemma just come across a 2.8i Capri special , 4 flat tyres , crap car cover over it and its basically looking very sorry for itself . Now my dilemma is do i knock on the door or not ....? Bearing in mind the recent spate in OSF "s getting stolen , i don"t really want it to look like i have been casing the car so to speak..... .. so your opinions please......
mk2_escort_chick Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I'd say knock. Just politely ask. Say that you used to own one All they can say is no.
.pete. Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I got my Cortina that way. It was in a front yard with flat tyres etc, obviously a non runner so I knocked and had a chat and ended up buying it.

caprinerd Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 do it sumo you know you want to mate got to be done if its a special then the chances are the axle will be worth more than what you will pay for the complete motor how far is it from you mate
bigdaz27 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 ive had loads of cars that way some for free if they just want rid
you'll get 10s on that Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 You need to knock....you'll regret it otherwise as the one that got away.... Be polite and honest about you interest in the car and marque. Be genuine and don't rush to give them an offer......wait till they express a desire to get rid and ask what they would anticipate the value to be............................good luck

Yeomans22 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 do it all they can say is no, i done that with a mk2 escort 2 door a few weeks ago, but they said NO,
radar tech Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i always follow the saying ' you dont ask you dont get'. Leave them your contact details to show you are genuine also if they initially say no they may change their mind whats the worst that can happen ?
samurai Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Knock for sure and have some cash to flash
X FLOW EDDY Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Make sure you turn up in your OSF when you go and ask about the car, at least the guy will know for sure you are a genuine buyer. It did the trick for me when i bought my 2nd mk2 escort, the guy was well pleased to see go to a good home and not the banger track !!!
