Just want to get opinions.

I use my Capri 2.0S as a daily driver & I am a bit of a show off when it comes to cars. So I turned up at work (and I work in an office, so some people either have repmobiles or boring cars), & I'd been hyping up what I'd bought for weeks, lot of people were wondering what I'd got (bearing in mind that I also own an Alfa Romeo 166 & my previous daily driver was a modified Skoda!). They love the Capri, I got some very interesting looks from people, including some very amorous ones from some of the ladies!

Just wondered what reaction people gave you with your work cars/daily drivers

Mixed reactions from my work colleagues, some of the older lads love my old motors, but some of the young lads just dont get it and take the pi55 sometimes too. Im just waiting for the day when the apprentice pulls up next to me in my escort in his 1.4 Astra.

they laugh when they say its gonna be slow cause it weighs a ton and cant beat their 2.0 16valve plastic astra..... few weeks later i meet said astra on said *cough* private closed road... now everyone thinks im a boy racer.....

needless to say i kicked their ass! :ykt::ykt::ykt:

Im know on site by escRot, it seems that if Im talking to a group they all take the piss, but individually folks seem to like it.

It doesn't help that Ive had to bump it off across the carpark for the last 3days....

I used to use my Capri as a daily. I would always get the old men wanting to have a look and the old women telling me that their husbands had one of them once, then they'd tell me all about the cars they used to own. I loved it, proper genuine interest and some of the old boys would show me pics of their old cars :thumbsup:

Sometimes I wish I still had her

Usually greeted with general horror that it may "lower the tone" of the car park, followed by surprise that it has an MOT and then followed by.. 'why'

But since its been off the road most people have been asking after it and wondering where it is and that I 'don't look right' driving a more modern (well, 9 yr old) car

One of my youngest sons mates was talking to him and i was just around the corner from the front door. This lad asks my son if the 1600E was his grandads car,not the reaction you hope for .

I got mostly good reaction when i took my old escort. First time i took it i had about 10 people young and old waiting for it to pull out car park. Was walking up to car saying please start please start first time  It did :)8) Got coments the next day.

Some one wanted to look under the bonet to see condition, and a young chav in his sh*ty astra walked past and laughed  I don't care what people think to be honest

I get much more compliments than negative remarks. I get occasional thumbs up from bikers, builders in their white vans seem to absolutely love it and lots of positive comments at petrol stations. Mechanics practically Jizz in their pants if I turn up at a workshop.

I know everyone seems to have a go at chavs but I usually get big thumbs up from them. Novas and Saxos are not my cup of tea but I respect them for the cheap, no-frills, easy to mod cars they are.

However, I find that the people who don't like my car actually have no real knowledge about cars except for half-remembered stats from Max Power. :?

I'm always of the opinion that not everyone has to like RWD Escorts but if you don't respect their accomplishments then you really don't have a clue about cars and you are just showing up your ignorance.

tbh, most people where i work are pretty neutral, the couple of people who wern't fans have seen me broadside enough at the roundabouts at work for them to see the fun side in the car.

another of the girls came into work surprised the other day, i didn't know she was behind me and i wasn't driving the door handles off it but she said she just couldn't keep up in her clio

i rarely get a bad comment about my car, maybe the odd girl doesn't quite get it but everyone else just seems to like it, i get loads of thumbs up from other drivers and always get asked questions about it if im getting fuel or something.

a few times when im in central london and stuck in traffic i'v had tourists asking for photos next to it (this is a tad embarrasing when your just sitting there looking like a lemon) :D

I only work with one bloke and he drives a S1 onion Ghia on an A plate  so my X reg cortina aint that old to him.

When i do the monthly trip to the hospital with the Pairents i usually stay in the car park and chat cars while they go in and get drained of blood and stuff

Not had bad feedback yet, bit of a pain in the petrol station when your in a hurry though

Tell a lie i did once get in a row about it when the owner of a scrap yard tried to tell me it was a granada

Never had a bad word bout my old Wagon.....and i used to use that everyday for work

Now i have the Capri , its bit different ! Due to my ( semi ) concious nature i don"t use it for work ( i work nights  ) as i did the Wagon...and cos i finish at 4 in the morning....its too fookin noisy :lol::lol:

The only day i take it to work is on a Friday night....have a kip in the lorry after work then rag her home Saturday morning ...happy days :ykt:

1st time i took Capper into work , they asked me to drive it in the warehouse .....1 : because of the noise it makes and 2 : because " they wanted a good look round it "

Oh , and i had a fella in a CLK give me the thumbs up last Friday going through Hook....that made me smile :D
