Old Speckeled Hen and ebay........

I've always been obsessed with cars. Read a little bit of CF way back when I was about 12 but when I passed my test I had VW Polo's, Saxo's, Renaults, Morris Minor etc.

Then I was on ebay looking for Honda Civics and Saw the Cortina Nearby. Stuck it i my watched items. Made the mistake of drinking a "couple" of bottles of OSH on the night it finished and the rest as they say is history. Never looked back! Never thought I'd have an OSF after the prices seemed to rocket. Fortunately Mk5's are still cheap!

Being born in a family with my older brother building a drag racing cortina, my other brother buildign a hillman hunter cosworth, and my dad restoring a lotus cortina from an age that i dont even remember (not cos it was an extremely long time ago, more because my memory sucks and can barely remember stuff from when i was 13) might have helped into brainwashing me to follow their steps

i always liked them when growing up, my nan had a mk2 escort, then when i was about 13 there was a white mk2 with forrest arches and blue tiger stripes cossie powered and would throw flames out the back in the same town so from then i was hooked :thumbsup::ykt:

i got into osf's so i could get closer to posse who i had been stalking for years. it worked, we had sex and he was crap, my dreams were slashed so i kept the cars as they were great and took away the pain of disappointment

To cut a long story short.Up till like 4 years ago i had zero intrest in cars, bike mad but a

good mate of mine had a mk1 mex with a 2.1 on 45s/48s he used it in hill climbs the run over to get the mex was in his mk1 xr2 which i thought was cool fast an sounded good, but the escort omfg it was just insane, it just didnt seem to want to do owt but fishtail an go sideways and the noise was sexual, not long after that i learned to drive just so i could get a mk1 escort

my first memory of an osf was when my class left school one day

to do some drawings of the local area, me + my m8 sat down + we

were sketching this mad car white with flames on it, jack up kit +

side pipes it was a consul capri! had that drawing for years after that.

but a few years later i bought a mk1 cortina estate this was 1979 so they

wern't osf's then but "normal" cars  i took my driving lessons in

a post office mk1 escort van  then went on to own 100's of

osf's since then + still not grown up yet :lol:

Had a mk1 mexico as my first car 22 years ago  had good times in that car , had Capris a 3.0s and 2.8 , couple of mk2 escorts etc used to meet up at a burger stand local to us and have a crack in the cars , good old days . My family used to race Anglias and cortinas back in the 60's so i suppose it was in the blood. Getting more obsessed wth them each year , and MGB's are crap

World of sport and the lombard rallye got me into fords when i was a nipper.

Seeing mk2 escorts blow porshes off at lydden hill was superb.

My bro had a brand new mk1 escort when i was a kid too.

Just knew i had to have one when i grew up.

Got my first mk2 at 17.

It was jupitor red on an s plate.

DBV905S

Looked a tidy motor when i bought it,but soon started to fall apart.

I spent a year welding it in the first bodyshop i worked in .Did a bare metal respray on it.

And when i got it on the road i replaced gearboxes for fun in that car, just couldn't help myself.

Had another 2 door mk2 soon after i sold that, gave it to my girl at the time and she soon fuxxed me off hehehe.Bitch.

Miss the car don't miss her.

Had several mk1's,2 door 1300 e,4 door xl and the mintest 2 door xl i have ever seen with square lamps, looked like a twincam when i got the last pair of mex wings from fords.

Had mk 4,5 tina's,16.gl.2.0 ghia.

Had capris,2.0 ghia,calipso.

Never had the bees knees models as i was alway s too young.

Years in the wilderness restoring aircooled vws untill i bought my mk1 tina.

Stupidly Sold it .

Had a mk1 RS2000 and a RS Cosworth escort since.

But since got me tina back.

And the joy continues.

When I left school I liked cars, but had no money, so bought a honda 90 stepthru, and did my bike test, and stayed with bikes till I was 24. One day I came home after night shift, and my fingers were so numb I couldnt open the house door so put in for my car test. Then bikes became weekend toys.

Had a few boring cars, but what really changed my was a go in my mates 400 bhp mk3 supra. That became the point where rwd cars were the only way to go.

Had a supra, and a 325i bmw e30 then when the bmw self destructed I was on the look out for something else rwd. Came across a 2.0 laser capri and bought that. Since then I have always wanted old rwd fords. On my 4 one now with the cortina.

But looking back, there were lots of memorys in the 80s of cool fords, that only now thinking about it I remember. My friends dad borrowed a mk1 escort and took us out in that, bright yellow with a black window louvre and we thought it was so cool. Also my a friend on the family had a 2.8 capri and I remember riding in that, I think she was called nancy and was quite a MILF! Also a few of my mates had mk1/mk2 escorts so always liked those.

Banger racing  Being surrounded by Granadas, Capris, Cortinas etc. Been brought up around old cars, bangers and a few OSF's especially, eventually, invested in my own!

I remember a neighbour having a mk1 cortina and a mk2 escort van when i was very young and my dad used to do bits of work on them for him. Didn't take me long to learn how to hold the spanners and i changed my first head gasket at aged 12 on my sisters mk2 escort(which should have been mine!!!)

Started an apprenticeship with ford when i was 16 and got my first mk1 fiesta on the road within 2 months of my 17th Birthday......

14 years later no longer a mechanic, driving a bmw and having a mk1 project which all i had done in 4 years was fit pepper pots and recaro seats in i sold it......worse mistake ever...

Managed to grab a bargain mk2 escort 4 door :D and made a promice to actually finish this 1 and never sell it as my son likes it :mrgreen:
