mk14dr Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 I've recently started looking for some opening quarter lights for escRot, and its looking like opening front quarters weren't available on 4doors in the UK (unless someone knows different), and this got me thinking... Is there any other unusual factory accessories/specs? Answers on a postcard, or alternatively post them here
5hane Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Mk2 front opening 1/4 wanted here as for unusal parts What about the Broadspeed pre-xflow heads IF i had a cortina / anglia. I would be saving my pennies !!! (set of downdraught carbs on one of them.... OOF!!! ) Also, my boss/mate has just bought a mini (a series) head which is the same
bortaf Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Mk5 cortina centre consol clock that's in the LHD position (on the right hand side of the consol instead of the left) but pointing at the RHD drivers seat, only ever seen one and it was a dealer extra fitted new
Twinkle Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 my 69 cortina super still has its original from new sprayed on vinyl stylee roof and its on the original bill of sale!!
5hane Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 is the inlet on the top? An inlet goes on top Gives better airflow, on my mates mini head, you can see the base of the vlaves.. so the air goes straight into the port, no sharp turnes. this combination on a 997cc Anglia engine would put out 90 bhp at 7800rpm in 1961. In something like a March 703 Formula 3 single seater these engines could produce 100bhp on a single downdraught Weber 46IDA and rev to well in excess of 10,000rpm
5hane Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Also has anyone got a pic of the OHC xflow engine ?? now thats a funky head

V8ian Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Mk2 front opening 1/4 wanted here as for unusal parts What about the Broadspeed pre-xflow heads IF i had a cortina / anglia. I would be saving my pennies !!! (set of downdraught carbs on one of them.... OOF!!! ) Also, my boss/mate has just bought a mini (a series) head which is the same Broadspeed or Holbay, they both did them, never really preformed as well as they should have, I know 100hp per litre was good, and the holy grail of tuning, try getting 150hp from one of theose heads on a 1500, and you will struggle, Unusual kit for the XFlow, anybody see the 3valve Xflow head at FordFair about 4 years ago, or the piper integeral rocker cover that carried the valve gear as well, they were poo, took about 2 hours to set the valves. thats why I sold mine, Minifin alloy drums for anglias, with built in spacers, Teclamant Jackson injection, sold on road cars, but never had an Idle system, so you either had to have a idle set at 2k, or keep 3 sets of plugs in the boot, Wol Phillips injection, originally designed for scooters, but found their way onto cars, nowt more than a pressurised carb, Aquaplane heads for flatheads engines, I think they did Alloy heads for the 105e as well, give me a bit more time and I will think of more,
5hane Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 unsure of the head but its a dry sumped x flow block did warrior do x flow heads???? well thats the easy bit not a warrior head
V8ian Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 BDG alloy blocks, based around a X flow, but I think you can take them out to 2.5, cant build a X flow from them as they dont have maching facilities for the cam

And whats the piper one then?? also classic ford did feature soem aquaplane bits in the sidevalve tuning guide also iirc there feathure on throbnozzle had some aquaplane bits?
5hane Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 BDG alloy blocks, based around a X flow, but I think you can take them out to 2.5, cant build a X flow from them as they dont have maching facilities for the cam Can the cam not go where the jackshaft goes? as the jackshaft is basically a cam without the lobes? obviously the pushrod holes would need machening out ??
rallyesport04 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 i must be sad i just looked for a alloy bdg block there is a hole for a dud cam suppose its to run a dizzy and it has no pushrod holes
V8ian Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 the piper "thing" was a alloy rocker cover with integeral webs to support the rocker shaft, al the rockers were then assembled inside the cover and then bolted to the head, adjustment was done by removing a screw on lid that fitted the cover, Just thought of a possible odd thing, BDAs were designed around originally the pre X flow block, I think the L block was the desired item, I think the Cosworth DFV engine was built initially with modified BDA heads, have a look at the rocker covers.
