In a futile attempt to do something different to my Prefect in a semi kustom stylee, im thinking of suiciding the doors........

...... question is do I re-hinge the front so they both pivot open on the B post, or hinge re-hinge the back doors so they open a la barn door?????

 

Maybe not so good on an escort moredoor, but I think I could pull it off on a 50's motor????

But if you're going at a speed, and open the door towards the back of the car, once you jump you'll end up in the door, no?

if you want to suiside the rear doors i dont think that you will be able to get the hinges far enough apart due to the cut out for the arch, most A,Bs have a long rear edge to hinge from, you could do it to a 2door but i think a 4 door would be hard to do, this is not a easy mod, getting everything to line up and work is hard job, if you look on hot rod sites in the usa they do kits this may help if you decid to go ahead

Makes perfect sense! That way when having suicide doors the door would stay open with the wind when moving forward, making it easier to put one foot on the armrest (otherwise you'd have to stay pushing the door forward). this allows you to jump off whenever you want, not lose concentration and fall off like with normal doors.

 

So I vote for suicide front doors and back, unless you plan to get a friend drive you around while you're on the back seat... in that case barn doors it is

Agreed, just mentioned it to my brother in law whos a body man..... and he responded with a long and non responsive sigh!

 

I suppose its winter and im bored..... would be friggin ding dong if I could pull it off though!!!!!!
