LGreen Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Got the latest issue, jans, and liked the article on you trying to start drifting. I'm building another MK1 Escort and am hoping to do a bit of drifting. Used to do historic rallying and have been away from it for 2/3 years so decided to build a road going track car set up for some fun. Are there such things as drift days and which curcuits do them? Used to being sideways on gravel but need to practice on tarmac. Any advice would be great. Will be summer before finish car tho. lg
RFJames Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 LGreen - We're going to be organising a drift day in the magazine soon, keep an eye out for it! Get that Ford built…
4parajon Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 LGreen - We're going to be organising a drift day in the magazine soon, keep an eye out for it! Get that Ford built… Get it sorted James Oulton Park do regular drift days, think the next one is 13/03/10, not booked on it yet but will do soon.
LGreen Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 thats good to know ther are people out there doing it. not many people on here mention it really. i work hard on my car but as i'm collecting it from shot blasters on friday i dont think it will be ready for 13/3/10. doing all work myself but aiming for quick turn around. got mosts things ready to bolt back on and shell is decent to start. hope to see you out there before end of year. lg
caprinerd Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 love a bit of drift racing but very underground round here and normally done on disused airfields or supermarket carparks as the police stations close round here at about 6pm and if anything gets reported then they have to travel about 15 - 20 miles to get here its very much an underground thing
nelly231 Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 considering how much we all like a bit of sideways action there doesnt seem to be much talk of drifting with old fords. maybe all that japanese puts people off! good to see mr morley getting involved and hopefully encouraging a few others. im gonna have a go in my xe powered mk2 escort at a DWYB at santa pod in the next couple of months. its a shame theres not more venues in the south east.
LGreen Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 turned out my shell is a lot worse than thought, will take a lot of welding to get it ready but will be done eventually, for now tho am hoping to come out for some sideways fun in the rally car I share with my dad. I say share, its technically his but he lets me drive it. Jammy sod i know. Hope to see some old fords at a dwyb day in summer. Is there anything dwyb in the north east yorkshire? lg
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 23, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 23, 2010 Santa Pod have drift days as well - mostly mid-week
Matt.C Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 i plan on doing some drift days as soon as my escort is on the road, hopefully this year fingers crossed.
Guest Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Love a bit of drifting but I think their mite be to much in the mag now. 4 pages of Morley drifting smacks of an ego trip/drift? That could be a much needed feature on a Mk2 Cortina!
RFChris Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Love a bit of drifting but I think their mite be to much in the mag now. 4 pages of Morley drifting smacks of an ego trip/drift? That could be a much needed feature on a Mk2 Cortina! Not really. The drift section isn't just about Ben, it's about the team which includes Declan, Mark and Tony. It's no different to us giving four pages to the hot-rods, or the rallying like we used to. We're just trying to represent motorsport in every old-Ford applicable capacity. It's not about Ben, it's about a dirty old MK2 Escort mixing it up with the Jap boys and showing them that a big turbo and a silly spoiler aren't the be-all end-all. Chris
Admin Vista Posted August 26, 2010 Admin Report Posted August 26, 2010 Hmmmm, a competition to see who can leave the biggest skidmarks eh? Sounds like this Guys the winner

I don't like some forms of ..""Motorsport"". ...banger racing..or hot rods.... (damn shame to see old fords being murdered.. so quickly..) TBH I never like the Driftin stuff either.....till I seen Declan..doing his stuff.. unbelieveable skill....to throw an escort sideways at the speed.... without an worry... an news on the bespoke Capri..?
