Slammed Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 weather or not to use my mk1 cortina 2 door daily, i realy can't afford to buy another car and insurance is pretty reasonable on my 2 door but i cant afford or find another mk1 cortina or any rwd osf at a reasonable price. im scared of it getting nicked, car park dings and general abuse etc... is it the right thing to do to a 2 door mk1 cortina even though they are so rare, because i dont want to drive a 106 or saxo cause there crap. but all me money has gone into this one car and has left nowt for another daily bugger
Andrade Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 i'd rather have a crap car stolen or damaged than something i would be sorry for
2litreScapri Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Tough one this, I use my Capri every day, any car is likely to be a target, & if I'd bought a Cortina instead of a Capri I'd still be using it everyday.
Slammed Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 i so dont want to sell it , but i cant go this year not being able to drive, but i am not sure about the 2 door as id be so damn paranoid about it, the police will probably nick me for being on 'drugs'
5hane Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 not as your first car mate, i wouldnt mk1 festia would be a better choice imo, or a mini
stuartp Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 can't help with your dilemma, i meant to run my escort as my only car but i got to thinking about the places i have to leave my car sometimes and the possibility of it getting stolen and i kept hold of my sensible little daily driver. i have had several cars and pushbikes nicked over the years and they have always been pretty rubbish ones so maybe it's not just the classics that are worth worrying about as the scumbags'll nick anything won't they?
Slammed Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 not as your first car mate, i wouldnt mk1 festia would be a better choice imo, or a mini im too tall i would look so stupid in a mk1 festa or mini but it seems the sensible option
Slammed Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Get a girlfriend with her own car already have one, but she cant drive, she like the mk1 cortina loads, just will a mk1 fiesta rock the boat? (no coments on that)
Mrs O/H/C Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 I would NOT use the Cortina...if it is just commuting could you not get a cheap motorbike/ped/trials bike etc ?
RossMK2 Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 my mums having a new fiesta on march first so im having her old 07 fiesta as my daily and escort for meets and shows i wouldn't have an osf as my daily as much as i love them purely because of it getting stolen
Yeomans22 Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 go down the auctions, my m8 bought a p reg golf 1.4 for £400 quid, he polished the paint work and sold it for £950 a week later.
RossMK2 Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Get a girlfriend with her own car didn't see that
Skoty Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 iv got an anglia which isnt on the road yet, but iv got a mk2 escort as my daily driver. i bought it for that reason and im not to worried about using it i just treat it as a car. ill prob barely ever use it when the anglias done. haha.
Copey Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 i use and abuse my capri everyday, just go for it mate! it will rust and need touch ups, but everyday you will get in it and have a MASSIVE grin on your face, you will get people watchin you drive past, people givin you the tumbs up, people commenting on it saying how nice it is etc etc its a great feeling!!!
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 i just use and abuse and thrash etc my cortina. if it gets nicked it gets nicked theres nothing you can do about it. the thiefs get to know where the locked up in storage cars are anyway. i know ive had my mk2 escort nicked. plus i cant afford any other mode of transport so i just enjoy my cortina
8ball Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 i use and abuse my capri every day as well. if i av to park her somewhere id be worried i take the lead from the coil to the dizzy or take the dizzy cap ( iv each leaed marked where it goes on the cap just in case haha )
jimbo Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Just use it mate........It's a shame to have a nice car and not get out and enjoy it whenever you can. Security wise, I use a stop lock and, if I'm leaving it for any time, or in a dodgy area, I remove the HT lead Your car could just as easily be nicked from the driveway/garage..... For just one example......I drove into London last week to go clubbing. Left the car on a side road, by London Bridge, for 7 hours (9pm-4am) and it was still there when I came back.
retrorigg Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 ya wont sleep mate or settle were ever u park it or leave it unnatended , ive been there, its not nice
Retro-gone. Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 gav, youre only 6 years old so no point worrying just yet
Slammed Posted February 17, 2010 Author Report Posted February 17, 2010 gav, youre only 6 years old so no point worrying just yet i got 3 months to go mr.Tony so i need to worry
capri.kid87 Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 At the end of the day if you dont use it you will miss it and it could still be stolen and you wont have used it. I use mine every day and it costs me atleast £50 a week on fuel but I love it. If it gets nicked yeah I'll be pissed but I get to drive it, race it, drift it and drag it so yeah drive the cortina
