weather or not to use my mk1 cortina 2 door daily, i realy can't afford to buy another car and insurance is pretty reasonable on my 2 door but i cant afford or find another mk1 cortina or any rwd osf at a reasonable price.

im scared of it getting nicked, car park dings and general abuse etc...

is it the right thing to do to a 2 door mk1 cortina even though they are so rare, because i dont want to drive a 106 or saxo cause there crap.

but all me money has gone into this one car and has left nowt for another daily :(

bugger

can't help with your dilemma, i meant to run my escort as my only car but i got to thinking about the places i have to leave my car sometimes and the possibility of it getting stolen and i kept hold of my sensible little daily driver.

i have had several cars and pushbikes nicked over the years and they have always been pretty rubbish ones so maybe it's not just the classics that are worth worrying about as the scumbags'll nick anything won't they?

not as your first car mate, i wouldnt

mk1 festia would be a better choice imo, or a mini

im too tall i would look so stupid in a mk1 festa or mini

but it seems the sensible option :?

it will rust and need touch ups, but everyday you will get in it and have a MASSIVE grin on your face, you will get people watchin you drive past, people givin you the tumbs up, people commenting on it saying how nice it is etc etc

i just use and abuse and thrash etc my cortina.

if it gets nicked it gets nicked theres nothing you can do about it.

the thiefs get to know where the locked up in storage cars are anyway.

i know ive had my mk2 escort nicked.

plus i cant afford any other mode of transport so i just enjoy my cortina

Just use it mate........It's a shame to have a nice car and not get out and enjoy it whenever you can.

Security wise, I use a stop lock and, if I'm leaving it for any time, or in a dodgy area, I remove the HT lead

Your car could just as easily be nicked from the driveway/garage.....

For just one example......I drove into London last week to go clubbing. Left the car on a side road, by London Bridge, for 7 hours (9pm-4am) and it was still there when I came back.

At the end of the day if you dont use it you will miss it and it could still be stolen and you wont have used it. I use mine every day and it costs me atleast £50 a week on fuel but I love it. If it gets nicked yeah I'll be pissed but I get to drive it, race it, drift it and drag it so yeah drive the cortina
