Nope twink is differant to the pinto, zetec ect so the mounts will be one off and probably still on the V6 X member so pinto still wont go in on standard capri pinto mounts.

Don't see the point of a 4 speed what box did they use :?

one of the Malta escorts uses the DOHC with good results

and Baz105e has just dropped one in his anglia, i wouldnt dismiss it too much just because it hasnt got a motorsport background like the pinto

i spose it uses less fuel than a V6 and give a bit more power than a pinto so why not ?

and i know of a mk3 tina round here with one on 45's 8)

Gah it's 4Sp auto not manual

if your using it daily they're OK, better engine than an EFi pinto in standard form and way better than a carbed pinto just no real tuning options :(

BUT if you go back to pinto you'll be shelling out at least £400 sheets to get the same power as the standard twink and still not be anywhere near it MPG wise, like i said a good engine as standard but no real tuning options other than some cams, Ex manifold and air filter oh and a chip for the ECU.

Just finished running a carbed version in a 5ierra, Ave 37 MPG with a light foot loads more torque and way more drivable than me carbed pinto, more like me 2.3 V6 or if i'm honist or me tuned EFi pinto except none of em except the EFi pinto could match it for MPG and that was a CARBED twink, EFi ones are even better

Just make sure you use a decent headgasket and keep the antifreeze topped up (same as all alloy headed, iron blocked engines really) and change the timing chain every 100K ish.

I'm not dismissing it because of lack of motorsport back groud.

I'm dismissing it because its crap,I used to see them every week for servicing and repairs, timing chains snapped at the drop of a hat and nearly all eneded up having a head gasket fail, lots which needed new heads.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE engine from my experiance

the sierra twink is a good strong engine. i used to have a "cough" sierra with a turboed one with a standard bottom end and i never had any trouble with it. You can do quite a bit to the twink, you can fit the 16v head from a rs2000 and acralite do some forged pistons which raise the comp ratio to 11.5:1 i think. this engine was tuned to 285bhp in the f2 maxi rally cars.

Anyonne know if the pinto mounts fit on to this or if it is a case of making some bespoke ones. Looking to put an i4 in a mk5 tina for a while
