I know you're probably not in the best of moods right now Samurai, but I tend to agree with P I G. In your shoes, I'd be straight on to the ins. co. for a claim-up. Also, it's just my personal opinion but I'd say the old girl is a bit beyond redemption. Take the money!

P I G, I saw the pics of yours (on another site), it looked quite bad, how's it coming along?

I'm not shocked at you saying that!

Very glad no one was hurt. Makes me glad I've bought a roll cage for my escort as well.

Best,

Wow absolutely gutted for you mate

Did the o/s/r wheel come off cos of the crash or could it have been the cause?

I notice the drum is still attached, did it snap the half shaft?

What kind of cage? if you ask me the 6 point one will not do much unless it has bars going across the car and not just the hoop at the top.

I should of had a cage then maybe it would have not been so bad.

I had the same thing happen before at only 10-15mph pulling out of my road which i strighted and then i didnt think about it again and put it down as a freaky occurrence.

After alot of thinking this is want id say happened.

Driving on a stright road then the back of the car felt light so im guessing it bounced because of (bump on the road, hole in the road etc).bounced back down at an angle which set it off!

90 degrees sides ways right then 90 left then right 90 and i stopped it from flipping over..spin 180 degrees which the front drivers side hit something and sent the car going backwards at something like 100 degrees over a crub which broke the wheel and halfshaft and the arch kept it in untill the end as seen in the picture.

The impact was like jumping on the bed, soft...

To guess the distance of all this was mmm say 30-40 meters.

One from Tube tech. Bolt in 6 point, with door bars and rear X. Not a weld in I know but its got to be better than nothing...

Door bars must help you in side impacts?

It would need to be welded on, forget the bolt on stuff.

The most important bit is the welded bar going from left to right of the car where the pillars are.

I will get more pictures up soon of the inside of the mex.

Im on the case insurance wise.

I think site sponsor alimax have a body jig made for an escort , might be worth talkin to them and maybe get it on the jig to see how bad it is . As the others have said you must be gutted and i think we all feel your pain , gotto be everyones worst nightmare.

If it happened at low speed to i'm gonna guess at something on the axle was either loose or broken - nothing else could cause it surely?

I think a basic 6 point roll cage only really offers roll over protection, hence the name.

i beg to differ,if my mk2 didnt have a rollcage fitted i doult after my crash i would still have both of my legs if i was still here at all.the front legs stoped the a pillar and bulkhead coming back any more than it did

I think thats just a bonus of a well designed and fitted roll over cage
