samurai Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 I want to fix this mex..dam i wont be beaten! Its been a pain in the butt for 6 years building it and im not letting it go that easy. I will build it back and better. So i call the insurance and say i crashed my car...then they hand me the money to fix it? I think its going to cost like 5K to fix it. I told them that its worth 13K but it had to be agreed and 7K without so its down as 7K. I was with CIC now its Adrain flux....so i dont know what their rules are. Will they write it off or just hand me the money to fix it?
samurai Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Parts list! Boot, Back panel, 2 rear quarters, Passenger door, Sill, Front panel, Slam panel, Drivers front wing, Bonnet, Spare wheel well, Passenger pillar??? Axle, 2 Rear Lights, Pass door glass, Rear spring shackles, 1 brake caliper, 1 indicator, 2 number plates, Front bumpers, ARB, Streering rack, 1 bumper iron. Then need jig works.
JAY PS Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Looking at pics that shell is bent ,it would need a reshell to make it right ,insurance will most likely (99%) write it off . The way its pulled the seam apart on the n/s/r/ scuttle means the whole n/s/ is a banana ! not worth repairing and would cost far more than 7k to do . They may not let you keep the salvage as most insurance companies operate a clause in your policy that car is theirs once a claim has been made . Its heartbreaking to say the least when something happens like this a mate went through the same a few years ago Give me a call if you need some help
banarama Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 that looks like it was going more than 30 mph was there diesal on the road ,condtions look fine. nether the less at least your okey mate. you can get another car but not another you
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 if you were fully comp agreed value you should get what the price you agreed but not sure if they will let you keep the car i think some times insurance companys let you buy it back cheap sorry to hear your bad news
Copey Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 that looks like it was going more than 30 mph was thinkin the same thing mate, no chance that was doin 30... still gutted for you all the same samurai
JAY PS Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Found my mates pics ,spent three years getting a 2dr Ghia to this standard and was only just painted then bang a jolly foreigner pushed it across the road in sutton one night !
samurai Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Yeah it looks like it was a high speed one but i was only doing 30mph on a small quiet straight road, 1 road away from where i live. It was thrown about in different diections via a curb and the back end switching sides so thats why there is so much damage. I will never know exactly the reason why it started to do that. Trees do make a mess By the time i strip all the damaged parts off it will look like a project car again apart from the passenger side being bent. It will be fixed.
mk1rob Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Do you have EVERY modification declared on insurance? If not i doubt they'll pay out at all. They do what they can to get out of paying out unfortunately
samurai Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 There was a modified form that they give me to fill out. Do you have different engine.. Do you have different exhaust.. Do you have different wheels.. etc I just had to tick yes or no and if yes whats changed.
Yeomans22 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 they way the rear panel seam has gone, i would think the insurance will put ii down as a cat B, so only authorised vehicle breakers will be able to buy the car back on to sell for parts. you might be lucky and they let you have the car back, but it will be a big job to straighten that all out. when i took out my insurance i asked them, if the car was ever damaged i would want it back no matter what, they said thats ok to me, but might be just trying to get me to buy the insurance. hope you get it fixed, gutted for ya mate, spent alot of time making a cracking car.
samurai Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 I can give it some makup to make it not look so bad if it helps Ahh that rear Q part was only tacked on by the last ower so it had to come off easy...
