tom28 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 hi all, just changed me brakes, new calipers, new discs, new pads, and new wheel bearings, bleeded the brakes and took it for a spin put me foot on brake n it seems i have to put me foot more than halfway to get her to brake and WORST of all it pulls to the right does anyone have any ideas why its doing this? feels like 200 just gone down drain
john_3.0s Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 have you looked at the rears? a pull under braking could also be caused by suspension set-up / worn bushes etc
KJ 1320 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Did you replace the front brake hoses m8? that's probably the reason for the pulling if not change them for aeroquip ones you will get a better pedal as well
greaser Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Check for air on the front brakes and if no air in the calipers then i would change the hoses or try bkeeding the master mate
tom28 Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 thanks for reply, theres no air in the brakes, ill get the hoses tomorrow and see how that goes, ill post as soon as i know, might as well order the bushes while im there spending fortune lately, wanna get me 1700xflow in this weekend but must sort this out first, thanks for the help everyone
tom28 Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Escort-Mk2-front- ... 4a9e696b8b
Andrade Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Me and my dad usually buy them from this guy: http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Flo-flex- ... QQ_armrsZ1
joe1600 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Had the same problem when i put new struts on my car. I bought a complet set of front struts with new calipers etc... Found the problem was that who ever had put the struts together had put the calipers on the wrong sides which caused uneven braking. make sure the bleed nipples are at the bottom of the caliper.
Andrade Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 make sure the bleed nipples are at the bottom of the caliper. i always tought those should be at the top to let the air out? :S
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 as said probally the hoses they can cause alot of pfoblems as they collapse inside
Retromotorsport Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 ooops sorry your rite it is the bottom Top .. Top .. Top ..
V8ian Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 TCA or ARB bushes wll make it pull, so will Ball Joint wear
tom28 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 new pipes, still same problem, bushes are on the way in the post, process of elimnation and elimnation on money all the bloody time
john_3.0s Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 have you looked at the rears? a pull under braking could also be caused by suspension set-up / worn bushes etc dont forget the rears! they do a bit of work under hard braking and if you have a load of slack or a knackered cylinder you will get a pull one way or another.
flyingbanana Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 have you put in the metal sleeves that sit between the caliper piston and brake pads......if they are missing it can cause brake pulling
tom28 Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 ye mate, sleeves are in still no joy, just waiting on bushes and see what happens
rich_mkii_rs2000 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 No-one has mentioned master cylinder yet. My capri one went and it started pulling to one side and it didnt start to brake till a fair bit of pressing.
Capri18 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Are the front dampers in good nick? Sometime a shagged damper can cause the car to dive about under braking
tom28 Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 not long changed dampers mate, it was pulling even with the old dampers on. thanks
