Why would someone want to hack a forum? What do they gain from it?

from previous attempts on other forums, hacking normally occurs after a member throws his toys out of the pram and is then banned - Causing said user to feel all mods are Nazi's and out to get them and only them, they can revel in the annoyance caused by shutting down said site for a minimal amount of time, normally via a DOS (denial of service) attack.

 

 

Still, could just have been a mouse in the server !
