Guest chriscapriman Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 yep, we want a full rewire ok, about 2 grand depending on spec how much?? oh forget it so they go and get some polak (who isnt reguistered with NIC/napit, nor insured etc) to do it who cant certify the work nor do it to current regs, and then ring you back asking for you to certify it i ask them how much they paid said pollak, work out the difference and give them that +100 as a price for the inspection, which isnt technicaly a certificate anyway, just a report on the installation

Skimmer Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I think if your in the Building game and work for yourself youll always get the "cheap quote wanted" or the best one is once your there my neighbour/brother used to work on the building and he says bla bla bla , i always walk away and say best get them then as most of the time you cant buy the materials for what they reckon it should cost.....
SmokeEm Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Don't woory Willsy - The builders always want the materials for nowt too
zetecmk2 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 willsy, when you actually start to do a days work, instead of chatting up the neighbours, drinking tea, talking about phil's project etc.....and the word gets about that "these boys are good" then the better job offers will start to come in ....but with your back? hmmmm
FredTransit Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Yep, get this, and worse. Got an email enquiry, from a Spanish firm wanting character cars for a feature film. Send me some example pics I say. They want a Landrover Discovery and a Landrover Ranchera. OK, WTF is a landy Ranchera? I ask people who know landies, people who speak Spanish, nothing. I get 2 example pics, both of the same green landy disco! I hit ebay, and start sending them pics of small 4X4s, hoping one hits the spot. Nothing, no bites. By now it's 3 days and 4 phone calls, and loads of emails. I am going blind looking at ebay. Eventually somebody who speaks more slang Spanish says Ranchera is a kind of estate. So I send them some example estate cars, and it turns out that's what they are looking for! Did I get the job? No.......
