Mr.Sumo Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 i have just had a bloke come round to look at the Vauxhall Omega i have for sale ( £625 ) , and he"s given me the right hump The cars got 11 months test , ok Tax is out , its pretty tidy for a car thats done 160 ,000 miles , loads of bills etc , could do with the seats being shampooed , but it ain"t a sh*tter by anymeans.....what do you think he offered , after driving it ( using all my petrol...) and umming -arrring for half a hour..... ..... 200 fcukin quid And my missus wonders why i hate dealing with foriegners ( I"m not putting his colour down incase you think i am a racist ) Rant over
MightySprocket Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 I know what you mean, the last three cars I have sold, Cossie, Imprezza and E36 convertible have all drawn the attention of how can I put it.... our ethnic bartering friends, after an experience with the cossie where one was trying to force a small quantity of money into my hands and it nearly getting physical after me telling him politely to f@ck off back to bradford in his toyota I refuse to deal with them, I would rather not have a sale! my rant over
orionmojo Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 same! 200 quid is quite some mark down it really is a cultural difference. a market/bartering amosphere is how they work and trade. not the more traditional english way of asking first, and turning up expecting to pay that (within reason of course)
Mr.Sumo Posted January 13, 2007 Author Report Posted January 13, 2007 TBH he could have driven it away for £500..... i just want shot of it now... its in the way
orionmojo Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 where one was trying to force a small quantity of money into my hands and it nearly getting physical i've had that too i was SO wound up. i nearly twatted the bloke aswell. and then he tried to get intimidating and tried to force the sale on me, then got all apologetic and asked me the 'you wouldn't make me come all this way" line i f***ed him off with the threat of a pick axe handle in the end. absolute gobshite and a truly repulsive attitude to boot
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Iain, chill my brother I saw this car last week, and it isn't a shit box. O.k, it isn't my bag, but for £625, it is a decent car for the money. I remember a time my mate had a Vauxhall Astra SRI for sale. It was a beautiful car, T reg, 30000 genuine miles, full history + rare Vauxhall extra's. He had it for sale for £4500 I think, some guy of foreighn origin rung him up and said "I will give you £1500 mate without looking at it" My mate, who will say what he is thinking told him "Mate, what planet are you on? The car is £4500 ovno, £1500 is no where near, do you think I am some sort of c**t???? Why don't you f**k off and stop wasting my time" Funny thing was, the guy rang back about a week later and tried his £1500 ploy again. He had more front than Southend!!!! So, 2 weeks later the car sold for his asking price and is happily living over near you I think Sumo. Have a cuppa mate, the right person will be along soon mate, you mark my words
Mr Sam Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 ( I"m not putting his colour down incase you think i am a racist ) so PC hope you get it sold mate

MK1 Dave Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 If you can, get a Yorkshire man to buy your motor! I sold my Charade GTti the other day. It went a little like this: "What do you want for it?" "£1700" "Sounds fair" "I've got a spare turbo aswell" "Really? How much for that?" "£200" "I'll have that too" Proper! Dave
Mr.Sumo Posted January 13, 2007 Author Report Posted January 13, 2007 now thats what i call a sale , quality m8
RFChris Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Cheeky clunt. I can;t believe the cheek some people have. I'll give ya £250 for it..... Chris
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 to f@ck off back to bradford in his toyota I refuse to deal with them, I would rather not have a sale! Watch it. I'm from Bradford, and I drive a toyota....
Cookie Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Mate I know exactly what your saying! Had so many problems time after time selling to these w*nkers and it's not being racist it is just FACT! never have these problems with others! They expect everything for nothing and always turn up with 4/5 blokes (cousins, brothers, gay lovers ) in the car thinking they can intimidate you into saying yes to taking half of what you are asking! mmmm ok, as all 6ft 6 and 23 stone of me answers the door lol (faces always seem to drop ) Usually I have a man who comes and collects all my scrap etc for free and i load it up with all my junk and rubbish, thats the deal he has the cars and he gets rid of my junk. Had one the other week who had an advert in the paper paying £40 for scrap cars! thought i'd give it a go as £40 is £40 more than i usually let them go for, anyway they turned up all three of them in a 3 seater wagon, did'nt want to pay £40 surprise! surprise! Bearing in mind now this was a mk3 astra, nothing wrong with it just been sat on female friends drive for 2years or so, had 5 spoke alloys, private plate, good engine and not a bad car if you could be arsed to sort it out! So I said gimme £20 (scrap value on alloys) and take it, yes yes he says and hands me a grubby £20 note, so off I go on my way, 20 mins later phone rings and its him f'ing and blinding down the phone because the brakes are seized on the back of the car, oh i said and? 'I want my money back, this car is scrap!' Umm yes it is my friend That is why you are here to pick it up, and if you are a scrap man then why the fook have'nt you got a BFH to bang the back brakes! Oh erm erm oh I want my money back! Nope! goodbye, Fookin nob! And this blokeis a meant to be a scrap man who collects cars for a living! Bought me and the old man a nice chinese that night, cheers matey. Got the usual bloke who takes anything to come down and pick it up in the end, no problems and no stress Like I said everything for nothing! as you might of guessed I have had enough crap over the years to last me 2 lifetimes involving cars and dealing to know to avoid with a pole!
Retromotorsport Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 If i say a price then thats the price ... haggle and it goes like this ... I want 200 for it ... Give ya 150 mate Its 210 and i'm not your mate ok 170 Its 220 now but you said 200 thats before you tried haggling ok 190 thats my final offer its 230 now it cant be 230 you said 200 ... i'll give you the 200 then Thanks been a pleasure or they get the " when you do your shopping in Tesco's when the cashier says that will 59.98 do you say ' give ya 35 for it' ... no. well dont try it with me either If i go to buy something i dont haggle i just ask on the phone whats the lowest price ... they say a figure and when i turn up and its not worth it i walk away, they normally ask me to say a price, i reply " i wouldnt insult you with an offer as you think its worth the asking price" a bit more banter from the seller and i give a stupid price ..he asked, i didnt offer, he meets me halfway and i walk away with a bargin Of course sometimes i get told to f*** off ...
