Smudger105e Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 I often read in the press that there are certain events that occurred and you "remember exactly where you were" when you heard, such as JFK's assassination (no! even I was rather young then!) It has got me thinking if there are momentous (or otherwise) events that I heard about and I can still remember where I was when I heard about them. For me there are not many Space Shuttle Challenger blowing up on launch (working on my Anglia on the drive) Princess Di's sad demise (Home, I woke up early for work) 9/11 (at work, listened to the developments on the radio) And that's about it, over 50 years old I am, and only three events of any memorable significance that I can still remeber where I was, althopugh more may appear through the mists of my memory! Which events do you remember, and where were you when you heard?
w p e Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 9/11 i was just getting of the missus .
Admin Vista Posted December 10, 2010 Admin Report Posted December 10, 2010 I remember the first space shuttle flight (Columbia) on April 12th 1981, sat glued to a very old fashioned TV at my Grans in Cheltenham 9/11 I was also at work, work stopped immediately it was announced on the radio and we all spent the rest of the day watching the reports on TV, completely gob smacked. Princess Di's death I remember because the TV came on on a timer..............and interrupted my new Girl friend giving me the best BJ I'd ever had in my life . She spent the rest of the morning glued to the TV and I was gutted................though not for the same reasons she was. I also remember where I was when the first Gulf war kicked off. In a night club in Exeter with a couple of mates. We had a solemn drink to the mutual friends we had on ships out there
