GJUK Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 do the type 9 gearboxes from a pinto and a 2.8 capri have the same bellhousing?, im planning to bolt it to a zetec I'm no engineer but it think the 2.8 is 'stronger' and has a bit you need to chop off. Someone with a bigger 'car' brain than I will be along shortly.
pauln Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 No but you can swap them or use the rs2000 bellhousing if you want to save weight/spend extra money.
bortaf Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 No they are differant and the input shaft on a v6 box is longer as well and will need machining down to fit, if it is the H/D V6 box an RS B/H will not fit without modifying it to clear the H/D bearing cover.

Admin Vista Posted March 2, 2011 Admin Report Posted March 2, 2011 The OP's question relates to the bell housing whereas the answers relate to the differences between the boxes. Can anyone answer the OP's question about the Bell housing?
Ken B Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 The bell housings have different engine bolt patterns, so no not the same. But then the gearbox input shafts are slightly different between pinto and 2.8 too as already explained.
