V8 Capris are all too common here in Australia, unfortunately at the expense of original cars. I've bought and sold about half a dozen 4cyl Capris and all of them have ended up with a V8 under the bonnet.

V6 parts are rare, so V8 is the only way to go when you want a high performance street car. With alloy heads, a 289 is not much heavier than an Essex V6, plus you can get a lot of aftermarket gear to make them handle a lot better.

I must say, I prefer my original GT V6 over this monster.

much the same here in California, V6 parts are few and far between, V8 parts are everywhere, got a pair of Mk1 V6ers at the mo, the minute something breaks on the engine the V8 will be dropped in

big fan of the V8 capris me, being from London originally, back in the days of Chelsea cruise in its heyday, Custom Car and Street Machine mags and the like.

Its funny to see some of those old custom capris come up on ebay every now and again,

would love to see some pics if anyone has any old ones, the DarkStar Mk1, the yellow MK2 Street Machine project capri, the black and white mustang look a like Mk1, Rapsody in Blue Mk1, the Pearler Mk2 Xpack,

where are they now? the classics from our yoot

There's a very nasty looking purple pick up that keeps rearing it's head on ebay. I don't mind the pick up conversion too much as that could actually be quite handy, but it's been done out like a tarts boudoir inside with purple velour and velvet everywhere! As to V8's they're ok for you guys with reasonably priced fuel, running one over here costs an arm and a leg as we pay between £0.85 and £0.95 a litre depending on where you are and what fuel grade you need. My Italian V8 drinks £50 of fuel in a little over 220 miles!

There were a few pics of it on here somewhere but I'll bet I can't find them now.

Found it

...dont mind a nice Jag axle meself though.

yeah, we are lucky with the petrol price over here, ( although we pay for it in other ways, less said about that the better  )

its about a pound a gallon at the mo and the yanks are still complaining its much too high, lol.

there used to be a bloke who ran a chippy up in North London who had a nice Mk1 V8, saw that at the Pod a few times, super quick.
