jimbo Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Hi y'all, Seen a few of these for sale, but can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me what function this switch has. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-FORD-ESCO ... 20aa0d2488 Looks like summit to do with air filter/carb, but I'll be buggered if I can think of a function that would require a switch in that area. Cheers, Jim
fieldy1972 Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 holy shit!!!! at nearly £58.00 for a switch it better be for something veeeery important.
SebringRS Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 It's a fog / spotlight Yeah was gunna say fog light Guessed the 2 "s" shaped lines are fog
Andrade Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 outboard motor switch, used to come out only on aqua marine escorts
jimbo Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 Ah Fog light...... I was looking at it laid flat (Capri style) not on its end (Escort Style). Cheers chaps! Loving the outboard motor idea. Could also be "Up Periscope"
stuartp Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 first time i have seen that switch on a slightly related note my dash has one empty switch space but for the life of me i can't find out what might have been there
The Transplanter Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I would say foreign market fog light switch as the seller is in Greece
jimbo Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 first time i have seen that switch on a slightly related note my dash has one empty switch space but for the life of me i can't find out what might have been there Take a picture and lets see if we can come up with suggestions.

Or just get a blanking plate I've got about 3 in mine, only got lights, wipers and heater, and only two of them are in the centre part. Lights are next to the drivers door The rest are black blanking off plates
Col-ashtonmobile Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 That is a heated mirror switch for a late 70,s early 80,s Ford D Series truck , was also found on some late A series trucks , was an optional extra
stuartp Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 ooh blanking plates - would beat my bit of black tape! I will take a photo and post it up on here for some kind of quiz - i'll have to come up with a prize never realised later Fords used the same switches as the mk1 Escort - not judging by this one but I wonder if they might be a cheaper alternative?
Col-ashtonmobile Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 yes stuart the good old Ford parts bin for all models , the heater switch on a D Series is the same as a mk 1 escort as well , the clutch master cylinder on a D series is the same as a mk2 cortina , the oil pressure gauge sender unit on an early D series is the same as a mk1 GT Cortina , the front indicator lenses on a late 70,s D series are the same as a mk1 Granada , the list is endless
SebringRS Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Sometimes if your looking for a part and know its on something else aswell, try having a look for a part titled with the other model car, ive found sometimes the prices are much cheaper Although the AVO works indicators arent, and they double up as hillman indicators
lotusless Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 it looks like the switch they would use on a spaceship to beam up very large snakes
Admin Vista Posted November 26, 2011 Admin Report Posted November 26, 2011 Although the AVO works indicators arent, and they double up as hillman indicators other way round.
SebringRS Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Although the AVO works indicators arent, and they double up as hillman indicators other way round. Technically wouldnt we both be right? Although yeah the hillman ones would of been first
