A few facts for you people out there

That of the top two hundred posters on this site, discounting admin and the three sponsors on those first 10 pages, only 24 people are site contributors?

Out of 10602 current members (this number would be much higher but earlier this year we deleted several thousand members who'd joined before about 2008 but never signed in) only 149 are contributors

The sites bandwidth costs us £160 per month?

Those of you that use the site regularly but don't contribute, you remain under no obligation to do so but I'd be interested to hear (by pm if you want, all will remain private) what changes we could make to the site or things we could offer that might persuade you to help out with the operating costs.

In other words the site we all use shouldnt be paid for buy a few guys trying to keep it here for us, get your hand in yer pockets and stop being cheap.. :tits:

Having just read this ive noticed im no longer in purple, i guess it has something to do with me changing banks a while ago. How can i change this?.

I am please to be a member of this site (and as a bonus you can sometimes claim a little on insurance) but i have noticed that sometimes posts are left unanswered for ages is this due to the big change OSF had a while ago? and maybe we are not so popular now??

I always look in on here most days and strongly recommend this site to as many people as i can. I still think this is the best site available to old ford fans. Keep up the good work.

just a suggestion but how about a free section just for members only where we can offer to give things away for free to fellow members.

Im more than happy contributing, £12 is nothing, especially with the diverse range of people on here, you can ask about pretty much anything and get a helpful answer

Well worth it :ykt::beer:

OSF is a bargain @ £12 :!: it forms a large part of my social life, and many others I'm sure, especially during the summer months, we need more contributors to keep the site going!

Problem you have is that most people just come and go, they come because they are just loking for info and go because they get bored or dont feel as if they fit in. Once they get past the fitting in stage I bet you find they become contributors

I own and run a a 17k plus member forum myself (http://www.vwcaddy.com) so know how much hosting, urls etc cost, plus the hassles that go with it :banghead:

The way I help pay for the hosting costs is by charging for classifieds, less than 200 posts and it costs £5 a year, but once your past the 200 its free. I have been doing this for a couple of years now and it works very well, new members dont complain, and the regulars members get it for free! win, win

if you want someone with simular forum knowledge to brain storm with then im happy to converse

thank you for your contribution, remember to check out the contributors room for your discount codes for merchandise should you wish to buy any...........though I fear it may be too late for it if you're already ordered a calendar.

Im in Purple and will be again later this month when it's up for renewal.

I got a mate on here new today and the 1st thing he said tonight when i spoke to him was how hard it was to navigate around the forum, compared to Turbosport & retro rides.

I know it had to be done and why it was done but since the update it is much harder to use then before and i personally think that may have some impact on memebers etc.

I think the pay for adverts is good, memebers free outsiders pay or subscribe ?

Perhaps a live chatbox for subscribers, helps if your stuck and general banter ?

Although i tend to stay on them and talk the round ones most of the time :D

Thanks Savvi that's useful feedback, can you get him to be more specific?

Personally I've got used to it, though I agree TS's layout is probably easier. RR though I could never get on with and never go on there because of it so I guess it's what you're used to.

I was a contributor and i used to be on here all the time but then life got in the way and i didnt go on here as much.

I noticed about 18'ish months ago that i was no longer a contributor?, and i never did owt about it because i so rarely used the site.

Im starting to go on here more now, especially now my escy is coming together so i'll look into being a contributor again at some point.

i'm purple have been since I joined, its well worth the £12 a year, meet good people, good shows and meets, helpful advice, you get to look at peoples projects and get ideas, you can use the classifieds. When you add it up its a lot for £12 (£1 per month you cant get a mars bar and a packet of crisps for that). Without the admin and the boss man we wouldn't be able to use the site to post about shows/meets.

I think you should run a competition the 200th new contributor should get a free osf t-shirt :lol::thumbsup:

I have been "purple" for a few years and will continue to contribute.

When I lived in Surrey there was no need for me to be on here as was always aware of what meets/shows etc. But I joined up once I moved to Cornwall and it became a good way of not feeling that we were not in the middle of nowhere.

Although I find since the changeover it has become incredibly slow on my browser which can be frustrating !!

I have spent many years promoting this forum and the benefits it holds and will continue in that. :ykt:

Over the last few months it seems to have suffered from a huge lack of posts, which I put down to a certain social network where you can instantly communicate with like minded people and toss around any questions etc.(and abuse)

It does seem that it can also attract sellers as its a free advert for them :roll:

Maybe it would help to get someone to do some marketing for this site to generate interest which in turn income to assist in the running costs :?:
