Not really going to be that nice to look at. Someone will have complained about it to the council. Can't really see a problem with them all being scrapped. Bit of a shame the council can't store and then sell the more valued cars off to the public though.

Agreed.

 

Initially I also thought "interfering council busy bodies!" But when I consider it from that point of view I don't think I'd appreciate having an unlicensed dumping ground for scrap vehicles out the back of my house either. Especially if it wasn't secure (i.e. fenced off to prevent kids etc getting in).

i would say its probably a mess and people are sick of looking at it .

If you lived in my area I'd be happy to show you round my local kids park that the council have ignored for years. Complete with rotting wood borders around the garden areas, dangerous steps, broken rides and missing fence posts / panels. All this on new build housing estate that the council have consistently refused to adopt (with the exception of the kids parks) since it was finished some 5 years ago.

 

Nothing missing about my council tax bills though (funnily enough)

Thing is you all wine to each other about things ,But what you need to do is complain to your ward councillors about these type of areas .Local papers also get them moving.Do Glendale look after the areas ? As they dont really give a shite about there work in certain boroughs!

One last thing in regards to new builds .The company that builds a new estate are responsible for all the up keep of the areas grassed / play for the first six years around it.An d then the council adopt that area after six years .Round the west midlands /Warwickshire that is the case .I bet its for that reason its a mess.Sorry i cannot edit im on my phone.

No I don't (whine to each other) I've been badgering my ward councillor for some time, plus my MP plus the head of the local council (and as many others whose contact details I can establish)

I know that but like others, I don't take advantage of many of those services. The open spaces, parks, hedgerows, forests, woods and anything else that can be considered public land are precisely what the council are refusing to adopt. If others get services that I pay for and don't use (their public land for instance) I don't see why we (the residents of my estate) shouldn't get services that they pay for and don't use (maintenance of our local public land). The public land around their homes is maintained isn't it? So I'm paying towards that too.

I know that too. The company that built the estate went bust so aren't maintaining anything. None of the residents get anything for the percentage of their house purchase price that was intended to cover estate maintenance meanwhile the council does nothing but plead poverty and claim it's not their problem (whilst raking in the cash in taxes). In fact A freedom of information request showed that the 600 or so homes on this estate have contributed in excess of £4 million pounds in local taxation since construction began. Burying your head in the sand may be a good tactic when you're an Ostrich but isn't so clever when you've got hundreds of angry voters in your constituency.

No I don't use all of those services, not even close. My children are not of schooling age, my local roads are unadopted and a mess (and in any case I pay road tax to use the roads) I do not use the local libraries. Nor do I use any of the translation services that my local council insists on funding for ethnic minorities who move here but can't communicate. The only time I had need of the police, I was given an 0845 number as my need (I quote) "wasn't urgent enough for 999". By the time I got through to someone on the 0845 no, the gang of kids from the housing association section of the estate (incidentally, a section the council insisted the developer must provide) riding motorcycles around the estate cycle paths and near the kids swing park had F'd off. So, what does that leave? Well I get my bins emptied and in frequent treatment by my GP. But I can't see what else the local council does for me that justifies the huge sum of money I pay them every month.

 

And no I don't begrudge paying my council tax, it's paid on time and in full. But I do begrudge paying it and getting less than a good service in return for what I, and everyone else in my housing estate, part with to the council every month. Especially when I read stories about Cornwalls own councillors being taken to court for non-payment of council tax. One of them multiple times:

No I don't blame the council for that, but I can and do blame them for being so short sighted that they failed to set up a proper means of dealing with that eventuality when they granted planning permission for such a poorly thought out enterprise. i.e. one company owning the land and developing the public areas and three others building the homes on it for sale to the public. Surprise surprise the holding company that owned the land and held all the buyers funds has gone belly up while the three housing builders (Wimpey, Persimmon and Barratt) are all still doing nicely thank you. Ever since the council has buried its head in the sand and claimed it's not their problem and there's nothing they can do about it as for health and safety (bullshit) and insurance reasons (more bullshit) they can't maintain land they don't own. Even the bond that the council insisted on has proved virtually worthless and has needed legal action to get the administrators to release any funds.

 

Ranting? Maybe, but with very good reason. And I'm doing a lot more than just moaning on here about it believe me. If you want to argue a losing viewpoint with none of the facts or history behind it then please, go ahead.

It's not a dump at all, we have a lovely well maintained home in a very quiet courtyard set away from all the main thoroughfares. The estate has the potential to be a great place to live but is let down by the councils refusal to maintain it.

 

Do I have an issue with the council in general? No. Do I have an issue with their refusal to deal with the problem here? A problem that is at least partly their own creation. Yes absolutely and so do most other people who live here.

I get this daily to my face and have thick skin .Its a job £25k + OT for welding fabricating inspecting repairing replacing kit .And i have to clean dog shit litter etc .
