Gotta agree with you chaps, ebays become quite a lottery lately and neither ebay nor paypal, who are also part of ebay I might add do nothing about it as long as they get their cut. I had my account suspended simply for the words "make me an offer" on 3 of my auctions, yet others rip people off left right and centre and ebay lets them open new accounts when they close their old ones down. Unfortunately its got worse because people like me who are simply trying to make a few extra beans are having to compete with shops who can bulk buy

Its become a necessary evil i'm afraid a bit like mobile phones

iv just had a room full of items sell on ebay for a measly tenner

 

id rather give it to the homeless than let a cheeky fecker hand over a tenner

 

i didnt set a reserve as the items are obviously worth a lot and expected a good auction

Nothin wrong with last second bidding (aka sniping) i had some doris send me a very nasty email cos I out bid her, I hate the people that bid on stuff days before it ends, all it does is push the price up, good for selling not for buying

My mate has just had his auction cancelled by ebay because one of the bidders mobile telephone number was displayed amongst the questions and he complained. Surprise surprise that bidder now wants to try and do a deal outside eBay!

I told him that but he's offered him £7k and was only hoping for about £5k so he's gonna eat humble pie and take the deal. Gets him out of some large eBay final value fees too I guess.

Ive had no problems so far, except some sellers marking up postage more than they say in they will. I recently bought three engine bay stickers from same shop in one go, and paid £5.00 postage (£2 first sticker, next item free).

Guess the seller get around the fee asking very little for the item and making 1000% profit on stamp and bubblewrap.

 

The last minute bidding is a consequence of the way the game is set up as well. If you bid early you almost never win, always someone thinking it must be worth about 1p more than your max bid and increasing their max in 1000s of 1p steps untill your are outbid.

Would be convenient if they could change it to seald bid so you wont need to sit next to the computer at the instant the auction for something you want ends.

e-bay I have used the same notes at the bottom of my listings for months about how to pay etc inc cash on delivery

 

last week I had an item for sale with 4 bids and 2 day's to go and e-bay pulled it because i asked for cash

 

so if you want to collect give me a cheque take item then it bounces you have my item I have fook all

 

And beore you say do paypal i dont do paypal as I dont hardly bye on e-bay but sell a few bits I dont see why I should have to pay to list pay a persentage when I have sold and then pay again to get my money off paypal

It's a big money maker for ebay paypal is'nt it, as if they are'nt making millions and millions of you already, they have to squeeze every last penny aswell.

 

 

And another thing that really fooks me off is people winning your stuff from all over the worl, even though it is quite clearly stated in the postage box that postage is only available to uk! So now i have to package up the bits, trek to the post office just to get a price, send them an email to tell them, then trek back to the post office again to actually send it! and before anyone says you can get a price online, its always way off, always like £20/30/40 when in reaity the price is closer to £10 at the post office.

There are a number of international bidders though who will ignore the request to contact you first for a postal quote. They bid and win then decide it's too much when they get the postage cost and won't pay up. This has happened to me 3 times and I never charge more than the cost of the postage + however much it costs me in packaging (if anything). That I suspect is the reason many UK sellers aren't interested in posting internationally.

I see the taxman has joined in the fun on ebay now. VAT on fee's etc. W*nkers. I'm selling a PSP on there at the moment and I have had almost a dozen scam emails about it already. Ebay sucks and the w*ankers that abuse it are scum.
