Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 29, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 29, 2012 .... I panic bought fuel today Anyone else stockpiling it? I didn't go as far as filling a gerry can but I did put more than normal into the daily
Admin Vista Posted March 29, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 29, 2012 Well, I panicked certainly as I had to take my little boy to an out of hours GP surgery last night and my fuel light came on on the way there (it's a 25 mile each way trip). No problem I think, fill up locally. WRONG, sold out of diesel! Crept back conserving what little I had and had to go out this morning and fill up, showing 2 mile range on the computer and no knowledge of a. what the queue would be like nor whether they'd have any diesel left...............do you think I made it?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 29, 2012 Author Admin Report Posted March 29, 2012 Oh dear - I hope you did mate
SmokeEm Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I've just this minute heard that both fuel stations in Bordon have run out of fuel!!!
Admin Vista Posted March 29, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 29, 2012 Oh dear - I hope you did mate yeah just! Big queue at Sainsburys and I was thinking I was going to end up pushing it on the forecourt (a tall order on your own with a 5 series estate!) agonising over which was going to use less fuel, stopping and starting every minute or two as the queue moved forward or letting it run. I opted to let it run and it started to splutter just as I was a few metres from the pump! I reckon I need to change the fuel filter with the sludge that's bound to have pulled through
GJUK Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Picked the most expensive garage in the area. Filler her up with £104 worth of dizzel. No one was there! I LOVE fuel cards. Jon
Jiffer Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 off to Cyprus tomorrow and got enough to get from Peterborough to Gatwick, dont care after that
lotusless Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Its bloody stupid all these muppets going mental over fuel! they have not even said the date of the strike yet and they have to give 7 days notice. I had to get some today as it was running on fumes but people were filling up to the brim + i only stuck my usual amount in, Its probably a lie just to get everyone spending more than they can afford. And then they will use more fuel pulling more weight around
Posse Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 on my way home i did try but most of the garages i go past have run out Plus i think if i put more than a tenner in my van it would prob pack up with the shock
Fiesta Steve Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I buy discounted fuel 100 litres at a time so always have a few 20 litre cans in stock. I have 3 cans full at the moment. The fuel light came on today and was going to fill up at home as usual but thought better of it and left the fuel in stock. I took the daily to the filling station and they had run out but had some left at the HGV pump. The nozzel was larger and didn't fit my car very well making it difficult to fill but eventually I got full tank. I wasn't panic buying, I always brim it !
SebringRS Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I put £10 in the escort last night, queued for 20 mins, i was only going out for tea
GJUK Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Can't ever see a reason not to top up a car unless you're about to sell it or it's not yours.
Jiffer Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 read into this what you will, but my mate a sergeant in the army was told in december to be prepared for a fuel strike in april
Fiesta Steve Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Normally its just after the end of March
jas Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 i got to get some diesel today and if i cant get any it will be cooking oil going in again
stuartp Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 nah, haven't noticed any queues or closed petrol stations here either i filled up this morning but that's cos i was running on fumes - didn't have to wait more than usual
oddball Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 A friend of my daughters works at the local petrol station and said that the phone is constantly ringing with people asking if there is any petrol there. They run out at 4pm yesterday with a delivery expected at 8pm the fuel tanker got followed by a convoy of cars into the petrol station. Its got very stupid round here Even the 24hr petrol station had queues at 3am
stuartp Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 traffic been bad all day and customers in the shop have been saying petrol stations have run out or have massive queues - sounds like i was lucky people really are idiots! i'm positive it wouldn't take much for us to revert back to animals bashing each other over the head with sticks
FBF Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Plenty of fuel in crawley, all the benifit scroungers here cant afford to fill up. Yay
D-FENS Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 F*****g mental here,Hayes Middx, massive lines of traffic at every petrol station. My son spends part of the week in High Wycombe and he said its the same there
Yeomans22 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 i put £70.01 in my 3 series tonight, i normally brim the tank andyway and the light was on, i did have to try 3 stations before i found any. it will last me probably 2 months anyway so the fuel problems will be over by then
GJUK Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Plenty of fuel in crawley, all the benifit scroungers here cant afford to fill up. Yay When I filled up time before last the lady behing the desk said... "fuel card..." I told her that she had "read my mind". "Only business users fill there cars these days." Sign of the times.\o/
