In rabbits of the genus Sylvilagus (cottontail rabbits), myxomatosis only causes localized skin tumors, but the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is more severely affected.[1] At first, normally the disease is visible by lumps (myxomata) and puffiness around the head and genitals. It then may progress to acute conjunctivitis and possibly blindness however this also may be the first indication of the disease. The rabbits become listless, lose appetite, and develop a fever. Secondary bacterial infections occur in most cases which cause pneumonia and purulent inflammation of the lumps. In typical cases where the rabbit has no resistance, death takes an average of 13 days.

Dom Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 It's man made disease invented years ago to control the rabbit population, primarily in places like australia but they decided to introduce it here, b*****ds. It doesn't always kill them but it messes with their senses and makes their eyes scab over so they go blind. Good news is the ones that don't get eaten, run over etc etc can have offspring that are immune to it. Anyway I work at maccy d's and there was this rabbit under the maintenance blokes car, I told him to bash it over the head and chuck it in the field but he wasn't having any of it. Then some bloke pulls up in a big transit, sees it, and decides to phone the RSPCA to remove it and he won't let anyone near it. I'm not being horrible but it seemed I was the only person prepared to stretch its neck and put it out of its misery

Once they have turned round the corner they will just chuck it out the window under the next big wagon that passes Some people are just ass's

Once they have turned round the corner they will just chuck it out the window under the next big wagon that passes Some people are just ass's Not so, I suspect they'll put it to sleep humanely and painlessly and then ensure the carcass is properly disposed of to minimise the risk of infection of other rabbits (as would happen if it gets whacked over the head and chucked over a hedge as proposed earlier)
