Daggle Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Oh god what have I done, Ive never had a meaningfull debate with anyone before, in the past all Ive done is "lock and load" and the conversation tends to dry up Personally I dont agree with arming the Police, for the simple reason is I would'nt trust half of them with an "alabama lie detector" let alone a firearm. I think the system we have now where we have properly trained armed response teams is much more suitable for us as a nation and I daresay there's quite a few bobbies who wouldnt want to be armed as well. There are quite a few that want to be routinely armed with the right restrictions in place, it works nearly everywhere else, the time of heartbeat and dixon of dock green is long gone, nowadays its more common to come up against being threatened with a syringe loaded with HIV blood or a knife/firearm, im not saying shoot everyone we speak to, just lets balance it out a little more in favour of the good guys for a change, speak to the 'bobbies' on the beat doing the job, not the ones who sit behind the safety and comfort of their desk jobs.......

Could'nt agree with you more mate The range of non-lethal weaponry ( I luv those 3 words strung together, just makes me chuckle)available for "bobbies" leaves the penpushingdesk flyingmoneypinchingtwats no excuse and every bobby that is injured or even worse killed because they are not properly armed for the 21st century should be on there conscience.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 31, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 31, 2007 I think this country has become very fragile with it's open views for the fear of "offending" certain parts of the community and that is a shame. I don't agree with racism, however, my view of racism is probably not the same as others .... baa, baa black sheep is now not allowed and the golly wog on Jam that I grew up with has been banned from being called that and he's now called the Robinsons golly! What a load of b*ll*x that is .... it's a feckin golly wog and it isn't meant to be demeaning to black people or should that be coloured or ethnic people I should be saying Jon, you have every right to be angry and more so than many of us who have not had to fight for our lives defending our country - I cannot imagine what that must be like. And Daggle - it is not easy being a policeman these days either because you cannot "touch" anyone now for fear of being bought up in court on some charge or other because you bruised the theiving little shite that just snatched a grannie's handbag and threw her to the ground However, I do still love this country and have no intention of leaving it .... my life here is pretty good and maybe it's because I live in (fairly) rural Hampshire but we don't get much trouble down here - my kids are as safe as they can be and they can still play outside without fear of being abducted. With regard to your initial post Jon on searching only the people from certain ethnic minorities, I see where you are coming from because you are mostly right (it seems) in saying that all these terrorists and bombers all seem to be from one religion - however, for those few there are 1000's of people who are not bombers or terrorists or bullies or other and who form part of our modern country. I say, carry on with the searches - I am all for that - but I, personally, feel you need to search everyone and not just certain people. If you look at other crime incidents on the tv and places where granny bashing, car nicking, burglaries go on ..... the majority of them are young white males This post is not meant to offend anyone, I am merely giving an opinion and I love you all on here

Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 31, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 31, 2007 That's because I don't want to offend anyone on here as you are all mates Any outsider can get stuffed
Admin Vista Posted January 31, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 31, 2007 I don't agree with racism, however, my view of racism is probably not the same as others .... baa, baa black sheep is now not allowed and the golly wog on Jam that I grew up with has been banned from being called that and he's now called the Robinsons golly! What a load of b*ll*x that is .... it's a feckin golly wog and it isn't meant to be demeaning to black people or should that be coloured or ethnic people I should be saying I agree with everything you said Jo and whilst I don't take a offence at it I can see why black people might so can't agree on the Golly wog bit. Banning BaaBaa Black sheep is plain stupid but wog was and to this day remains a fairly crude and offensive word for black person. Would anyone approve if it had been named a Golly nigger, a Golly coon or a Golly darkie? I doubt it, so why should Golly wog be any different? It's not about whether it's meant to be demeaning to black people, the fact is it IS offensive whether it's intended to be or not.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 31, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 31, 2007 Fair comment Vista .... I see where you are coming from .... I suppose I just think of the character as being a golly wog as just a name and not really associating it with an offensive term .... but I do agree, wog IS an offensive term.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 My next door neighbour is black, and I had a conversation about this sort of stuff a while ago. He doesn't find the term 'gollywog' offensive, and does think 'baa baa white sheep' is stupid. But then, he's from Jamaica so is probably as laid back as they come!
Cookie Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 While living there we respected their country and religion - and yet in our country we pander to their every need. Hit the nail on the head there m8 and thats the problem, we are seen as a doormat now From the perspective of other countries, Great Britain must be seen as such a pathetic country that they know they can walk in, do anything, lie about being in danger while pissing themselves laughing, take every handout going (more than i can and I'v paid taxes all my working life!) Get fed, clothed and entertained, use our colleges and universities to gain the education to use against us, the hand that fed them so to speak. Have the police close streets for them to preach to others about what a sinful country we are and how they should all be thinking of ways to hurt us with bombs etc and sacraficing they're life for a better life when dead ERM HELLO!! DEAD MEANS DEAD YOU STOOPID FOOKS!!! and as soon as anyone questions they're motives claim racism. Well I find it absoulutly appaling, where has the backbone, the confidence of GREAT BRITAIN gone??????? I always saw our country as a respected gentlman, not a bully boy nor a bragging mine is better than yours, not a pushover bitch country but as the bloke in the pub who is the one who is first to lend a hand and give advice, a friendly happy to help GENTLMAN, but the sort who even the 'I'm hard as nails' blokes won't dream of crossing! (if that makes sense ) Thing is we are so far down the line now and let so much shit through the doors we can never go back, I truly dread to think and am honestly scared about the state of out supposidly great nation in years to come!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 ^^^^ AMEN TO THAT MY BROTHER ^^^^
Trevmk3 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I have a mate whos in Basra at the moment and i have nothing but support for all of the lads fighting for the oil/peace . i have nothing against ethnic people as long as they are the ones that try to fit in to this country not british people having to bend over backwards to accept there culture making our own culture/past disappear along with the thousands that go to live in spain, france ect. thats my 2pence worth for the moment have got more where that was from
Jelly Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Give Police guns and they will use them. I've been threatened too often by pigs, I dread to think what would happen if they had guns to point at people.
Trevmk3 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 i think that it wouldnt be a bad idea for police to have some weapons on them, but if they did then they should have special restrictions ie not like the yank cops that pull a gun on you when being pulled over. they should only be there for a safe guard as a last resort or highly dangerous situations
Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 1, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 1, 2007 Give Police guns and they will use them. I've been threatened too often by pigs, I dread to think what would happen if they had guns to point at people. Just out of interest Jelly ..... do you think it's because of the area of the country that you live in?? Down here in rural Hampshire (and I'm not being snobby), we don't get too much bother from the local plod ... although they did nick me for my mis-spaced number plate but we don't hear locally about threats and stuff. Once again, I'm apologising, but I don't mean to offend you. Down here, the only time we see Merseyside on the TV is for crime documentaries and wayward teenagers who go granny bashing. We never seem to hear nice things .... maybe that is why the police are more defensive??
Daggle Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Give Police guns and they will use them. I've been threatened too often by pigs, I dread to think what would happen if they had guns to point at people. Well the Police ain't gonna keep them in storage are they!!! Duh!! Oh and by the way, I find your comments offensive.
4parajon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 As I started this thread can I just say that it was never intended as a dig at as far as I'm concerned the brave Policemen and women of this country. I disagree with Daggle on certain aspects of policing and how its done, but thats my perogative as a tax paying individual. And if my views were seen as being offensive to you Daggle then I apologise. This thread was more about the situation the Police have been forced into by this poxy wishy washy bloody government. I think using the term Pig on here is offensive and should be withdrawn coz its out of order.
Daggle Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I haven't got a problem with all that's been said on here, just fed up with being called a Pig out on the street, don't want to hear it on my day off thats all
Burns Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 just fed up with being called a Pig out on the street i don't know if i'd have your restraint, i'd want to go truncheon on their asses
Admin Vista Posted February 1, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 1, 2007 I haven't got a problem with all that's been said on here, just fed up with being called a Pig out on the street, don't want to hear it on my day off thats all Sticks and stones mate, I'm sure it gets you down but there's a lot worse that can happen. Besides the people that throw that kind of abuse and name calling from a convenient distance are usually those who's opinions are pretty worthless so I wouldn't let it get to you.
escamino Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I have to agree with Daggle, Why should the police have to put up with abuse which they find offensive, when everyone harps on about not upsetting other people? Personally I have nothing but admaration for the boys and girls in blue doing a thankless task. I've had my share of run ins but always been treated fairly. Got pulled over once because they thought my car had been stolen. Really nice to see that if anyone did try to nick it, someones got their eyes on it.
