Is there anything positive or all negative ?

Who wants to step forward and help out on the site?

I have read through this post and there are some good points and they will be discussed 100% . One of the problems we have is that mike like all of us has a full time job doing IT and the last thing he wants to do is come home and spend hours doing upgrades to the site this is where our hands are tied .

Can I be a complete bellend and ask who Mike is (sorry Mike)

I think when you ask for ideas then there may be some negatives, although constructive not derogatory :) On the whole there is nothing wrong with the website, but as your asking means you just want to make it better

One (possibly negative) suggestion I have is to lower the age of what is classed as an Old skool Ford? I know I don't post much but I do come on here several times a day to check any new posts. There is not many subjects that hasn't been covered on the forums and less and less cars that are considered Oldskoolford appearing as they become increasingly rare and out of reach for most enthusiasts pockets.

I think maybe allowing Mk3 escorts,mk2 Fiestas, early Sierras and all Granadas or something along those lines could attract hundreds maybe thousands of new members?

4-5 years ago I would not have given a second look at a Mk3 escort or Mk2 Fiesta and would consider them just a cheap old car but now have much love for them and there rarity and prices are on the up.

Example here of Eastash's mint Mk 2 beauty viewtopic.php?f=40&t=139319

A guy who joined up a few months back with his Mk3 then got the hump and removed all his pics and left cause he was told it was not considered Oldskool enough.

As time goes on the cars on here now will not be considered as classics but vintage.

Probably not what most members want to hear but eventually a new Focus/Ka/Mondeo/CMax will be considered a classic.

Remember, this is only a suggestion so please don't ban me and beat me up at ClassicFord/FordFair.

I think the forums and members are great, you don't get the bitchiness and elitism that you do on so many other forums.

Just a suggestion.

Peace.

for me..

1/ up the optional membership fee to £15-20 per year.

2/ better quality Merchandise, get shot of the stick on lettering and go for embroider..

3/ bring back the OSF bomber jacket ( just for me )

last year at the nec, we sold all of the club merchandise excellent.. but why don't we sell at all of our events !! or do we..i've not noticed

over the years of being at most of the events, you hardly ever see club members wearing our Merchandise...

why !

calenders .... should be more of them...( still not got mine  )

we just need to bring in more revenue..

I don't post a great deal

However thanks to tapatalk I'm on here looking everyday :)

Everything's fine for me on the forums etc....

More merchandise would be great and selling at more events is a good idea too....

I like the Boxhill meet so more of them would be great...

For what its worth i totally agree, I for one would not mind seeing some of the slightly newer cars on here. I would have joined years ago when i had my sierra cosworth but i new it wouldnt be welcome here at the time

ok, please dont take this next one the wrong way (and sorry to anybody who already has osf stickers on their cars) but i tend to find them a little plain and boring, i would love it if osf had a logo / sticker that you could look at and think 'fook that looks cool' im proud to be an OSF member and id love to advertise it on my mk1 but i want to see a logo / sticker that suits the car and looks the part, perhaps something a little bit menacing

I don't mind getting more involved if its more people you need!

I would say that increasing the contribution to £15+ would be a good idea! It's not a lot of money as far as I'm concerned for helping out with the running of the site!

Maybe the idea of only allowing purple members to be able to see a for sale advert would be a good incentive, but maybe 7days is too long?!

I kind if disagree with the oldskoolford stickers. It is a web address so I'm not really sure how you would spice that up?! I would have thought that there is more people that would rather have some simple lettering on my car then a logo, as it wouldn't suit it's style! Just my opinion! We have a dedicated sticker guy at my work with all the equipment. I should be able to get a good discount so maybe it would save some money?!

It would be good if there are more regular meets going on! I for one used to enjoy the one in Esher! I would be happy trying to set something up around this area (Epsom/Wallington/Sutton/Croydon) and maybe the meets section of the forum could have a sticky more dedicated to listing where and when the meets are and what areas so its easier to see what's going on?!

Just some of my ideas, I know it's not much but I will keep thinking!

Re the merchandise especially the t shirts / possible bomber jackets ? would it be possible to have them in a larger size  possibly XXL (aka Fatboy size) as i own several OSF t shirts that are XL and they fit but a little snug for the more fuller figure :lol: , so they just live in the draw brand new ......just a small idea :D

Mike is one of the admin on here. His username is Zetecvan.

OK thanks, being newish around here and not having met anyone as of yet I can only recognise usernames

What sort of help did you want with the website? Moderation type duties or back end PHP? I have owned & run a forum (VBulletin) for 10 years now so may be able to offer something :)

I know how hard and time consuming forums can be :banghead:

Also we have about on average about £40 ish pound a month coming into the pot and £160 going out :banghead: this pot has a bottom to it.

There are a hand full of members on here that set up meets etc and I’m pretty sure there are more out there which can to .

Merchandise ideas would be great ... Maybe a new design for clothing ? Maybe something different ideas would be great.

Darren who makes up the £120 difference ?

Merchandise - Mugs ,Polo shirts,Harrington style jacket, v neck Jumpers,Peaked cap,Sew on patches,Pin badges ,to add to whats already in the shop.

As far as like t-shirts go keep the osf logo on,put a print of an osf car (large) or say four cars(small)on front with osf address underneath,do t-shirts in different colours.

All the things above embroider design on,(apart from mug obviously)

Their was a comment somewhere about things been a bit plain ,then just add an osf car picture.

How about having small logo's (embroiderd on if you like on sleeves a bit like dart players have)of dealers that sponsor on the site.

If at the start of the year there is a list of shows, meets etc already organised, why not put them on the back of t-shirts (like tour dates on back of band t-shirts.

What about osf address decal to go on outside of car, doesn't have to be very big.

OSF wheel / hub centre caps, steering or wheels.

Personally whatever type of merchandise i would alway's have the osf address on it ,a potential new member will then see it as an offical site,if it just say's osf ,people don't have a clue what in means unless their in the know.

As far as the site itself goes i don't see whats wrong with it, apart from the shop needs sorting, bit of a minefield to find stuff and order it.Been trying to get a couple of stickers but given up now ,lol

Hope all above is of some help,if not just talk over me. !!
