Nick Heer Posted April 2, 2018 Report Posted April 2, 2018 stunning looking motor what is the suspension set up you are running back and front to get a stance like that and what does it ride like

Nick Heer Posted April 2, 2018 Report Posted April 2, 2018 Ray that set up cant be standard thats why i am asking because they normally look like 4x4's on the height on front and back so it must of been altered from factory i am not asking for the coca cola recipe

I had read a claim they were rarer than Mexicos and RS2000s but not as rare as Twincams and RS1600s. I thought they were similar numbers to 1300E's though? It may not be a case of rare in production numbers either rather than rare in what has survived. If they are indeed that rare now this is a classic case of too many restoring the RS models and forgetting the lower models (or just using them for their shells) and as time progresses there are then less of them than the supposed rare sporting editions that everyone prefers! The most inspiring Mk1s on this forum are not AVO or Special engine varieties but meticulous restorations of regular models that have now become rare in their own right. I think we need a just a little bit more of the standard lower model restoration and a bit less of using them as bubble arched rally car replicas. Im not suggesting all (as a Ztec every day would be kinda fun) but lets try saving a few more of the slower rarely mentioned models in their original form. There is no less a wow factor (in fact the opposite as there is more) as seen Rays and Rallye restorations from the snapshot in history they provide. You dont need to have that RS badge or two cams to have a jaw dropping motor. Less (in terms of car original model lineup) can now mean more! All we need now is enthusiasts to start appreciating the 4 door models lol 1

I keep a close eye on MkI 1300 Sport numbers, in fact my register has less than 50 on the list which includes those overseas and resting in garages. With this model reaching it's 50th anniversary this year I think it's fair to say any surviving MKI is worthy of the marque.
