Retro Rides gathering pics

I didn't take many pics yesterday as I spent most of the day on the stand...........................and once again forgot my camera so was reduced to phone pics.  :dope:

It was a great show though with some excellent variety and was much much bigger than the last time I went (maybe four years ago?) to it at the Haynes Motor museum. Well done to all who turned out for our stand, a 100% turn out on the number of stand passes sent out! Special thanks to the two guys who'd travelled all the way from central Scotland in a very nice mk2 1600 Sport, especially as I think you were also the only ones of us who braved the soggy camping field. On the day the weather was pretty good with only the lightest of showers laying even more water marks on mine (and BournieP's) black cars that had already been cleaned multiple times! I confess I gave up at that point but his was looking smart and shiny till the end of the day! Some great track action to be seen there and the cafe was very good and reasonably priced too. Definitely an event for our calendar next year.

Capriaddict took more pics than me, including ones of our stand so hopefully he will be along to add to this thread later on.

G'wan the vans! Seriously this was stunning

This lovely little Elba mk1 camper had 31k on the clock and 2 owners from new. Current owner has had it 22 years and is just getting around to planning his first camping trip in it!

And one of those oddities that RR invariably throws up, a slammed 2CV? Really?

Saturday evening was a bit wet which was a shame, the Olympic Cossied MK1 was camped opposite me and was very nicely put together.

I did intend to come and say hello to you guys, but ended up spending half the day chatting to JP (@ JNL Racing) who built the cylinder head on that 1005bhp Audi Quattro

Also the Citroen Dyane above was built by Paul Coltec (Coltec Classics), it basically welded to an old beetle floorpan, as was the Red MK1 Golf that he also built. Not my cup of tea but Pauls a good lad

Hopefully next year I will be there in an OSF ;)

  • 1 month later...

Indeed it is a mk2, though but for the wings, front panel and dash they're pretty much the same as a mk1. More info in the link under my sig.

Side view really reminded me of a Mk1 but the front is clearly a mk2. I should just have said nice black van  :)
