chris MK1 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I am in the process of looking for a Mk1 escort van, just wondering if you would all be kind enough of giving me your opinion of my thoughts and plans of wat i am going to do to my van (wen i find one). The colour will be BMW mini Grey (closest i can describe it to) decked on 13 inch Superlights Carbon quarter bumpers Fibre glass front wings bonnet and hopefully rear doors (weight saving!!!!lol) full custom ally cage running a near on 200bhp xe lump!!!! chris MK1 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 i no wat you are sayin bout the xe, i used to be the same i hated the thought of a vauxhall engine in a ford but my mate bought an astra gte wiv the xe lump and i think that it is a great engine now and so easy to tune, he has started to tune his one and it beats things in races that it shouldnt, and it got me thinking what that would be like in an even lighter car than a mk2 astra. i no that things my change and everyone has different opinions of engines, never no i might change my mind. and as for a cossie lump that was my first idea but after sitting down and costing it all up it really is a costly conversion to do right

And they make over 200bhp... look at Steven Drays Anglia for a start.. he did real well in the OSFDC... and was quicker than Morely... Nuff Said !!

And they make over 200bhp... look at Steven Drays Anglia for a start.. he did real well in the OSFDC... and was quicker than Morely... Nuff Said !! i dont get the concept of na cosworth... surely thats working against the design of the engine ... but i know jackshit

And to make them rev you need to up the compression and change the cams to give it more valve lift... Not cheap!! when you have to buy an engine then rebuild it... XE out the scrap yard £200 change sump pick up inlet,exhaust,ARP Big end bolts, mod the back of the head...Coil pack,ignition only ECU and a bellhousing to suit or a 1.8 manta Gearbox Job done 180 BHP out the box

Xe is deff the way to go for a 200bhp 16v. Anything more and you will be looking at spending some serious money so then you can look at a N/A Cossie lump, otherwise no point.
