capriluke Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 quick question. how do you fit 1 to a mk 3 capri with 3 lines out of the master cylinder?? any help much thanks!!
orionmojo Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 buy retro ford, back issue last months ( i think- can someone confirm?). theres a how-to in that
V8ian Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Line loc, to do this with the two pipes out of the master cylinder, one of the ports has to be blanked off, then run a single pipe to the line lock, then from the line loc run a T piece back with two pipes to the front brakes, the less unions in the system the better, with less chances for leaks, If for any reason you are not happy with doing this, get someone who knows to do the job. capriluke Posted September 23, 2006 Author Report Posted September 23, 2006 cheers guys. so blocking off one port wont make the pedal any harder?? same amount off fluid going through one hole instead of two?? what would you recomend to block off the port with?? thanx again.
Onyx Dave Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 If you block an outlet you will halve the amount of fluid and pressure to the front brakes
Onyx Dave Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Yes you can do it 2 ways, use a bias pedal box or change your master cylinder to a 2 outlet type as it has bigger internals for the front brakes as it operates 2 calipers not just 1 which is what your have now, ie 2 outlets 1 for each front caliper and 1 to the rear.
Hilux Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 you could always fit the line lock in the rear brake line and lock the rear brakes off rather than the fronts being locked on, if going for a burnout at the strip get the rear wheels in the watered area on the floor nail it and as soon as you drop the clutch, jam yer left foot on brake pedal, then your back wheels should be spinning but you are holding car on the front brakes with yer left foot
Ratters Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Fit it in the rear line & heel & toe That would be the easiest way.
capriluke Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 at the mo its left foot off the clutch and on the brake. that works, but is more strain and will kill the brakes in the end. if you put it in the rear line will the brake pedal move?? cheers again.
Hilux Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 i got one in the rear line, pedal feels the same as it does normally. p.s. i have an autobox so front or rear line makes no difference to me
viv-ashton Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Posses van had line lock didnt it ? yeah v6col fitted it best pm him he,s done a few
capriluke Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 got no probs fitting one. jus wanna get things clear 1st. so if u put it in the rear line.... hand brake off turn the lever now no fluid can get to the back brakes. give it loud pedal. off clutch on brake... when u hit the brake what happens?? lots of pressure in the rear line! is there enough travel in the master cylinder to lock the front brakes? does this make sence to anyone? or am i looking to deep into it?? ta v much all.
Ratters Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 When you hit the brakes the fronts will work only. Rears are isolated off. Hold brakes with right heel, right toes revving at the loud pedal, dump clutch. Personally it feels more 'right' doing it that way than having your left foot on the brake pedal, if anything happens left foot is hovering just above the clutch to cut the drive.
