Mk2 1600 sport GNX 166T

Anyone ever seen this in the last 10 yrs or so? I owned it for 6 months or so in the cheltenham area about 2001/2002.

 

It was sierra beige with a chocolate vinyl roof with a webasto. totally original other than for the rear arches even down to the deck chair seats, bronze glass and  steels. sold it for about £350 with t&t

Anyone got that web site to check if a car is currently taxed? I can never remember it but it's useful for stuff like this

its the DVLA site but its currently off line. ive checked this one from time to time but always looked like it never made it to another mot after i sold it

The DVLA show it as having been last taxed in 1995 and that it has been exported. Though that doesn't tally with you having owned it in 2001 / 2002?

 

I also wonder how many potentially savable cars were discarded back in the 90's when they were considered virtually worthless

something weird there as I had the log book in my name for sure way after 1995 and ive never been exported!

 

Ive been trying to track down a few of my other cars recently, found that my mk1 rs2000 that had a bit of front end damage was stripped and cut up for parts 2002 ish

 

 

I know the riveria blue mk2 in the pic went for scrap as i took it myself but i stripped most of it which went to live on in other projetcs / got sold

hey well done buying that, looks like someone has done a nice job restoring it. As I recall it was pretty solid and very original, I got it from twigworth breakers, someone had weighed it in but thankfully they were canny enough to put it aside for sale.
