escort21 Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 i had 95 out of the tina with standard engine n brakes thats scary I have also done that...and I was also scared
Retromotorsport Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 strange old question this one.... Theres a few Mustangs that have broken 300mph at the salt flats .. Theres a few YB powered needles that have broken 400. theres even a Mk1 Escort thats about 2 foot longer going through the 200mph barrier over on the flats. Then you have the Malta boys doing the 1/4s Theres also the DVF powered F1 cars Think you should re-phrase the question like this ... Whats the fastest standard production car? Whats the fastest Gp4/5 type car. (Zakspeed Capris and Escorts probably) whats the fastest racecar type car (racecar includes tube chassis etc ) As for engines .... if it wasnt fitted as standard the car is put into Gp5 or racecar type cars. But one answer will always be anything with the YB in it ... John Tebenham(sp) in his 105E from years back through to Craig Rainer in his Mk2 in the FSCC
arch Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 i would imagin tht mk1 escort from cant remember in europe with 715 brke would be 1 of the quikest i would imagin
Admin Vista Posted February 16, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 16, 2007 well.... yeah......... ok.. im not arguing with an adult cause i know im going to end up with a clip round the ear, whats the fastest anyones had out of one of them then?? I'm with old skool nipper. no XE's. If it weren't fitted into a Ford (any ford) by ford themselves then it doesn't count in this thread. Why? Well simply really, because he asked the question so he gets to choose what he asks about, that's fair isn't it? Personally I'd have gone further if I'd asked it and said no NOS, but like I said above, he asked the question.
Retromotorsport Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 i would imagin tht mk1 escort from cant remember in europe with 715 brke would be 1 of the quikest i would imagin But 715 brake in an otherwise standard car wouldn't be much cop round a race track ... so you cant just go on power figures alone
arch Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 yer round a track im talkin bout in a straight line
Chris! Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 we've had 102mph out of a 1500cc pre crossflow Gt engine Slightly modified
RETRO_AL Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Kevmk2-Mk2 escort- Cossie Turbo - 11.1 KJ 1320 -Mk1 escort- VAUXHALL XE - 11.3 yeah but if kev used NOS he would be in the easy 10s
mk2 stu Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Whats the problem with an xe! it was based on the cosworth which inturn was based on the brilliant BDA, Its a rock solid lump that once you've stripped down and rocking it on a pair o 45's sounds and runs just as good as any ford lump! Now i love fords with a passion, but open your eyes boys!!!
Rick Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Kevmk2-Mk2 escort- Cossie Turbo - 11.1 i couldnt quite believe that when i saw it at the pod (was my first time) if anyone has some vids of it post them!!! FAST AS fook
60ftman Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 We've had high 9 second quarters at 140mph+ on our old engine (and road legal!). New engine should be pushing 1,000 bhp (when we get it dialled in) plus a 350 shot of nitrous. Not bad for a 'stock' Mk 2 RS2000
