Admin Vista Posted December 11, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 11, 2014 so what are people's car related plans for 2015 then? We've been thinking about whether we should look into a club stand at Silverstone Classic this year. Would anybody be interested in that and are there any big local shows that people would like to represent OSF at on a club stand?
mk2 mike Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Got some fairly major plans for mine. Possibly engine swap, some fab work and paint inside and out, new suspension to name a few. I'd be interested in silverstone though!
GJUK Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 The mk1 has had a new 2.1 pinto and ignition system. I might change the gearbox for a straight cut 5 speed. Maybe some new wheels. My dart has just been mini tubbed and I need a new rear axle for that and larger 15" wide wheels for the rear
Admin Vista Posted December 12, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted December 12, 2014 Straight cut boxes are very noisy Jon, what's your reason for wanting one? Personally I'd only consider one if I was going in for competition use. 1
NudgerSS Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Just to get it finished and enjoy it. Simple...
Admin Vista Posted December 12, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted December 12, 2014 I don't really have any plans for work on my cars, I just want to find time to use them a bit more. Need to find a few more local events to go to with them too. 1
Kieran Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Need to build the 1300 crossflow for my Fez
deltamal Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Mines ready for next year, new exhaust fitted and ceramic coated, half-shaft seals replaced, underside re-under-sealed, some small rust bits sorted, just got to re engineer the throttle body linkage, bring on the shows! is Silverstone classic older cars or is it a 'plastic' event? big show to promote for me would be Powderham castle Exeter.....

nosher 64 Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 Silverstone classic looks good, a club stand would be awesome. As for the cars, the capri will remain as is..... A shed... The Cortina is undergoing a small rebuild/ freshen up... 1300 pistons.. New cam... Lightend and balenced bottom end... Twin 40's etc.... Need it ready for the classic ford tour to Amsterdam....
gearbox100 Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 Maybe try and get some more done to my escort. Might even try and get it on the road.
mk2ratter Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Sanding . Painting . Nut and bolting hopefully have nearly finished by end of year.
v8cortina Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 My white Mk2 Cortina is now ready for some epoxy which should be laid on next week. Engine bay all done then ready for some OSFDC abuse 2
theloudboy Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Where I was gonna start a rebuild on the WPE escort that I bought a few years ago but I'm thinking about buying a house again but I used my house money to buy my mex and the WPE escort so I don't know lol 1
GJUK Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Straight cut boxes are very noisy Jon, what's your reason for wanting one? Personally I'd only consider one if I was going in for competition use. I want to improve the 1st gear ratio on the type9 and they seem like a good upgrade to have. Noise... Cool
mk2ratter Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Love the sound of my straight cut makes the car sound meaningful
Admin Vista Posted December 17, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 Noise... Cool Some noises are cool but others just grate on you. For me, in road use straight cut gearing is a grater. And, contrary to popular opinion, they aren't stronger either they're just more efficient as they don't need to deal with the end thrust generated by helical gearing.
brettp Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 Finish trim polish and use as much as possible
theloudboy Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 I did love the noise of a S/C gearbox until I had to go on a long drive bloody awful noise it stopped me using the car and there was no way I was not gonna use it after all the money I had spent on it, I bought a BGH gearbox it handles more power than S/C its got helical gears 1
quickrack Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 I am determined to finish a run without problems. So a series of improvements is my plan.
