Right, I'm approaching a roundabout intending to go straight over (not literally ) it's clear for me to enter, which I do. I see a cyclist approaching the junction to my left. I'm continuing around but I see the cyclist carries on and not appearing to slow down...then as I'm passing the 1st exit he comes straight out in front of me!!! I give him a toot of the horn which is answered by, "f@#k off" and a hand gesture... At this point, I decided we needed words.

And another thing, mature gentlemen that are slightly overweight (being kind)...do you really think spandex budgie smugglers are going to make you that much more aerodynamic??!!!

Rant over, thankyou.

So did you stop and have words?

I had a near miss with a cyclist yesterday, cycling up the inside of slow moving traffic and ignores the fact that I'm indicating and turning left. He missed me by inches as I turned and somehow seemed to think it was my fault? Muppet!

Yes, yes we did have words...he reckons there was plenty of room, I explained that the white stuff on the road is paint and means give way...he still tried to justify his reason.. I also explained that being a reasonable bloke, I wouldn't force feed his expensive bike down the nearest drain cover, closely followed by him.. We then went our separate ways..to a light a applause from some on lookers who obviously have had a similar experience.?

They're called MAMILs.  Middle Aged Men In Lycra.

I actually got stopped by 2 PCSOs when riding down a trail on my mountain bike.  They questioned me if it was my bike, blah blah blah. They then told me that as I wasn't wearing lycra and a helmet that they believed I may have stolen the bike (seriously).

I was wearing an old pair of army cargo trousers, hiking boots, a Canterbury rugby drill top and some MX Fox gloves by the way...

Yep nearly  had one of them the other weekend, blithely following  his mate straight through a give way junction, without even glancing my way.

The last time i did that the bike  ended up firmly embedded in the A-pillar of an Austin 1300, and me on the bonnet.........well i was 8

That'll be because all cyclists tar all motorists with the same brush. What's good for them... Same with motorcyclists IMHO. They hoon about everywhere at 150mph then moan like a schoolchild when you pull out to overtake a car travelling at 50mph. It isn't my job to try and see if there is a bike approaching me at 150+ Just my view.

i'm a motorist and a road  cyclist and have many club friends who are to . agree some cyclists should'nt be on the road also some motorists should'nt be on the road .but to say ALL is very unfair. Cant comment on motorcyclists though.

its about time they bought in a proper test for cyclists, just like a car or motorcycle, and also make them all have insurance, they can damage the paint on a car same as any other road user

and all bikes, push or motor should be banned fron going up the side of cars and pushing in at junctions, that should be an instant ban

push bikes should use the pavement on all narrower roads, as they cause an obstruction to cars and lorries

what really gets me is, the cycle lanes and priority spaces at junctions, when did you last see a cyclist pay his road tax to pay for that entitlement

and dont even start on the subject of horses

I don't profess to being fair. It is just my belief. Based upon I do not know a cyclist without a chip on their shoulder. (I know quite a few 'serious' road racers etc)

it already is, it's called the road traffic act and everyone using the road is obliged to comply with it, including invalid carriages, children, old fogies, foreigners and even pc plod unless he's got a blue light going for a very good reason.

I ride a motorbike too, dont see why if there is room i shouldnt filter to the front of a queue, im not going to hold anyone up when i pull off,

As a one time biker myself I agree in principle, but many bikers aren't sensible about when, where and how fast they filter at. Just yesterday I saw a biker get creamed when he decided to turn right whilst filtering. He went straight down the side of a car pulling into the middle with the intention also of turning right, then bounced off an oncoming car that was in the process of turning left. Completely the bikers fault in my opinion

And that's why most cars have child locks - ultimately its the parents responsibility so that argument doesn't wash! As a biker I ride by the term given to me by an ex Police trainer - cars and bikes - 'make progress' and if that means carefully overtaking and moving to the front of a queue - so be it! One thing I don't do when in a car, is hover by the central lane / carriageway divider, whilst glued to someone's bumper moaning they can't overtake cause they can see & don't know how to do it properly or safely! They are so intent on the back bumper they fail to look in the rear view or side mirrors and skittle another bike when they do pull out, doing 1mph faster than matey up front!

Second the requirement for cyclists to pass a test and have insurance! Yeah cyclist are soft and easily broken but 150lbs of that can make a right mess of any car even if the driver is totally blameless - his only redress is civil courts and sue for damages then its feeding time for the legal vultures!

Most bikers think they are invulnerable and Knights of the road, thats fine with me, however if you as a biker (or cyclist) wish to put yourself in danger, then when you get f*cked up dont moan about it, your choice Biatch

Don't know why anyone wants to cycle, its horrible, went out on my push bike today (as I seem to be spreading out around the middle) thought it might do me some good, but aching legs and feeling sick seem to be the only results after 90 minutes.

I had a guy on a bike come up the inside of my cortina the other week as I was turning left in slow moving traffic. The mirrors on my car are rubbish but I just caught sight of him as I turned so I jumped on the brakes. The guy stopped call me all the under the sun and told me the check my mirrors!!!!!

WHAT THE FECK!!! Check my mirrors for you undertaking I replied.

The best think was as he peddled off he shouted "your cars sh*t" had to laugh.

It should be made a law that all cyclists have to stop at traffic lights...........  :)

... number plates on cycles would fix that, and as someone else said, insurance.

Something needs to be done, if you go to Dorking on a weekend it's like running the gauntlet. Most ride 3 or 4 a beast, most fail to give way and most fail to abide to the road traffic act and highway code... Can see why so many get snotted..
