Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 9, 2006 Admin Report Posted June 9, 2006 THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IS .... WHAT GEARBOX HAVE YOU GOT
BIGKEV Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 Rocket and two type nines - still cant to decide which one gets the pleasure of being in the thunder saloon - good to have a few spares lol
Morley Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 Straight cut type 9 and its a piece of filth!!! I have it on good authority that "rocket" was actually only the name of the Rally sport optional close ratio gearset for the Mk2 Rs2000. It is a common misconception to call the standard 4 speed box a "rocket box" as its not! So given the choice, i'd have an actual Rocket box... infact, over a type 9, i'd even have a standard 4 speed!
tim Posted June 9, 2006 Author Report Posted June 9, 2006 rocket box is the comp gearset fora type E and this is the box am talkin about
perry Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 infact, over a type 9, i'd even have a standard 4 speed! ive seen your comment and raise you a " id rather cut my floorpan out and do it flintstone stylee than put a type 9 in my car " ive got a mk2 1600 sport in mine and the only box id put in it is a mk2 rs2000

RallyOrange Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Quaife 4 speed S.C.C.R Dog Engagement (No syncro's) 5 Speeds just don't like the Rally stages abuse, had one with the B.G.H. Geartech mods to syncro's, and oil ways, still wasted the steel baulk rings, and ended up crunching gears. I like the clutchless animalistic upward gearchange from the Dog box, and what a lovely clunk when selecting first gear from a stand still.
